It would be redundant of me to go over the entire history of game-to-movie adaptations to prove to each of you mathematically why this movie will suck, but I find it interesting that film companies are demonstrating a new strategy in order to avoid a quick exit from theaters with this latest RE film: completely changing the plot of the games to suit their own needs. Sure, the thing still has zombies, it's got evil crows, and it has the obligatory phallocentric tentacle guy, but otherwise the whole thing resembles Mad Max 4 as envisioned by a drunk George Romero.
I don't recall the parts of the Resident Evil series where we had to reconstitute our urine for the precious water it holds or dig a sand cave to protect our pale skin from the harsh sun, but I have always been a proponent of adding a cage fight with a gigantic mongoloid.
Ok my opinion with the first movie was that it was still good because it incorporated an umbrella hive (sweetness) but didn't have enough from the actual game in the story. The second was actually in Racoon City and had the Nemesis which was pretty awesome. I was sad when the S.T.A.R.S. members were killed right away though. I still enjoyed them both a lot. It looks like this movie is going to stretch it further and further from the videogame series though.

I'll wait for it to come out on encore. I respect the fact that they always find a way to incorporate a nudie shot or 2 of Mila. Thats just good for everyone.
Well..Resident Evil never even started anywhere near the plotline. It's basically not even Resident Evil..it's just another damn zombie movie. The only thing that remains are the characters, but the character's personality aren't even the same..
For instance..Jill is a badass in the games. She's portrayed to be the chick who is hot, but could still kick your ass if she needed to..while in the movie..she's a pussy..unable to do anything.
I really loved the first film, mostly because it didn't try and put characters from the game into it. In my mind I was able to fit it into the Resident Evil Series overall plot.
The 2nd one could have fitted into the plot line if they hadn't been stupid and used characters from the game in locations they were not in, in the games.
I'm being quite optimistic about the 3rd one, it can't be any worse then the 2nd afterall, and hopefully wont attempt to shoe horn any game characters into it.
I hated the first one, the second at least seemed like an attempt to reconcile with the fans, even if it still failed. This movie is epic fail. Sadly, out of boredom I will probably go see it though.
nah. I mostly like game based movies, it's even better when they go way off than when they try hard and miss hard, like mario bros, bloodrayne, double dragon...

The first Resident Evil film was easily the worst ever videogame-to-movie I have ever, ever watched. Or tried to watch, I couldn't make it through the whole thing. How this piece of shit ever became a franchise is beyond my mental grasp.

I never understood what you people wanted from comic and game movies. The stories are OK for video games because you have game play to work with, but if you try to make a movie out of these stories, you really have nothing to work with.
I never have high expectations for these movies. I enjoyed both Resident Evil movies. It had chicks with guns and zombies. That was enough for me. I wasn't looking for a deep political message in any game or comic movies.
I'm just amazed how angry some people get because they had such heavy expectations on a FUCKING GAME MOVIE! Stop looking for the Citizen Kane of video game movies. To say "IT SUCKED AND I WANT ALL MY MONEYS BAK!" wows me. Really? Was it really that horrible and painful for you to watch? Are you gay? Scratch that last comment I made.
Anywho, yeah. I will enjoy this next RE movie based on what I saw in the trailer. I'm a man. A simple man at that. I like women and explosions. I'm not looking for some nerdy Final Fantasy storyline. I'm not one of those guys posting on forums asking if Master Chief was a virgin. No. I just want to see shit blow up. That's all.

as for the DVD of Resident Evil and Resident Evil:Apocalypse - Resurrected Ed. : On disc one you have both movies without the commentary tracks, but has a scene from RE: Extinction. On disc two some extras that should have been on the RE:A DVD - and to contrary to what you heard there is not a free ticket to RE:E inside (sucks)
I'll see it, like I saw the last two. Like most people here it seems, I liked the first one a lot. The second one just completely blew. A month or two ago I tried watching it again, thinking it couldn't be as bad as I remembered it being. It was. I couldn't finish it, I didn't even get past halfway.
This one could be okay. But I'll try it out.
