Resident Evil: Director's Cut hitting PSN on May 28 photo

Barring having to download and install a forty plus hour PlayStation Network update, you should be able to sink your teeth into the first of Capcom’s teased PlayStation One downloadable games, Resident Evil: Directors Cut.

Hitting May 28 for $9.99 on the PlayStation Store, the title is everything you loved and, well, loved about Resident Evil -- loading screens, dialogue, statuesque characters, convoluted story, and of course, zombies.

As mentioned on Capcom-Unity by marketing dude Matt Dahlgren, the original Resident Evil stars Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine -- two important (and playable) characters in the latest Resident Evil, Resident Evil 5.

Although going through the backlog is always encouraged, don’t try to pick out too many story scraps. We’re pretty sure Capcom writes down awesome situations and plot lines on pieces of paper, puts them into a hat and pulls them out at random for every new title.

Interesting (and cute) first choice. Are any of you going to bite?

You mean more awesome, because it had actual zombies and the series was worth masturbating over back then.

Sadistic beat me to it. That text should read: Like this, except good. Also, zombies.

I actually have the retail copy of it somewhere. If I can ever find it, I'll want to play it again.

Also, even though Resident Evil 4 is one of the most fun games I played, I dislike how they made the plot super serial when the first games were just made to be silly. And had zombies.

@wickedswagger

Not to be a dick, why would there be a Gamecube game on the PS1 classics section of the PSN Store?
To answer your question, yes its the PS1 game.

Oh my god! I actually hate this game, but you know what this could mean? It means that hopefully some time soon MGS1 will be on the PS store....WOOHHHH I can buy it for a third time and play it on my PSP

Let's see here...
I bought the PS game the day it came out in 1996.
Bought the Director's Cut in 1997.
Bought the GC remake in 2002.
And bought the DS version in 2006.
I think I'll pass.
Thank you.

I'm sorry Brad but are you implying that Resident Evil is any different now?

Everything you've just described as flaws can apply Resident Evil 4 and 5.

Well other than the zombies part.

The original RE games were basically puzzle games; unfortunately, I think sudoku's a bit more fun.

Resident Evil 5 is shit. Res 1 DC is madness.

Super, now let's have the other hundred or so games that Japan has been enjoying released to NA players.

You can go on Amazon and find a new copy of the Resident Evil: Directors' Cut for less than 10 dollars. Screw this PSN copy.

I'm surprised no one has voiced any concern over the premium pricing of the game. I'm hesitant to pony up $10 for this, maybe for part 2 and most likely for mgs but not for re1.

On a side note, how hard do you think it'll be to get non-bestselling mainstream titles on psn? Man, this is why dark_alex has more fanboys than Sony. Oh Sony, you're the abusive spouse I can bring myself to leave.

Bweh? Try finding RE:DC for $10 new online. Any die-hard RE fan already has this game. This release is for anyone who missed out.

I got the GameCube remake for about $10, so this is a pass for me. The GameCube version is far superior anyway.

Was it just me or did everything that happened in Umbrella Chronicles and with Weskers character get dumped for Resident Evil 5?

I agree with whoever thinks the RE remake for the GC is superior to this. RE for the PS1 basically belongs in a museum. I guess it's alright if you're unable to play the remake, but even then...it isn't just the visuals that are better about the GC version.

Release the big box non-directors cut version! Also, Resident Evil 2!

And while we're at it, Parappa the Rapper and Bust-a Groove 1 & 2. I better stop now, cause this will go on forever...
