Resident Evil: Archives trailer shows and shows nothing photo

It is becoming more and more clear that Capcom doesn't think it can possibly release the original Resident Evil enough. The game's been updated and revamped more than Joan River's face and they aren't stopping. Next up is the Wii port of the game Resident Evil: Archives which just got a Japanese teaser trailer. The budget game will feature remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Zero that have already been released before as separate games in Japan. The trailer itself is pretty much useless on all fronts as it doesn't show any new content, but does proclaim proudly that the game will be on the Wii.

Archives is scheduled for release in the US this June at the low price of $29.99 and will feature some added Wii Remote controls that include shaking for readying weapons and other fun motion stuff that we're sure will add an entire new layer to the game. The game looks to be almost exactly like the GameCube remake except for the motion controls shoved in so there isn't much new to see here, especially because it doesn't even look like widescreen will be thrown in for a variety of reasons. I'm just going to pop my GameCube version in my Wii and save $30.

I really don't get the point of these remakes-
Oh wait, quick and easy cash from a starved "core" Wii audience? Is that it?

The only feature that could convince me to buy another RE-remake is if there was a cheat where I could play as either Samus or Martin Luther King Jr. Anything less is insufficient.

Why can't they give me a remake of RE2 dammit, I'm sick of the RE1 remakes who buys them anyway?

If they were putting these out on other platforms, I could understand it; I'm sure there'd be a lot of money to be made if they released these on the 360 for example.
But the Wii, when you can just play the GameCube version? I can't imagine how doing this would ever make profit.

Yeah, there's nothing new in the Wii ports of these games. They'll just be there for the people who missed them on the GameCube.

Cool, but why can't they release this on XBLA or PSN also? I don't want to play a surival horror game with the shitty wii-mote.

Well they where GC exclusive so they would have to put in actual effort into porting it acros to two completly diffrent platforms.
There is no Xbox or PS2 versions for them to just plonk on the download service.

The biggest advantage I can see is that now they'll both be on one disc (either both on one or at least each one on an individual disc) instead of spanning four total.

I have both of these games via the Pure Evil 2-pack, which apparently is somewhat rare. It's nothing special, just a cardboard box bundling the two Players' Choice releases, but people are asking more than $30 for it now. I might trade up.

It is crazy how they've now re-released RE1 three times on Nintendo hardware, though. If they'd bundle the Gamecube ports of 2, 3, and Code: Veronica in one release I'd be even happier.

The only good thing about this is that it will be sold at stores that don't care GC games like Target and Best Buy. There are a lot of people who missed these games the first time around, so I guess it's nice for them to have the opportunity to take notice of them.

That said, I'm not buying it unless it comes with a Darkside Chronicles demo.

I played the GameCube version back in the day: Very good, but they made it so hard!
I'd like to see what changes they're making to the Wii version, but i'm betting it'd be easier (and cheaper) to buy the GCN version, as they'll do bugger all to it -_-

The Resident Evil Remake on Gamecube looks God awful on HDTVs. They need to re-release it on XBL in 1080p, for posterity sake!

So buy this for 30 bucks.

Or pay 15 and get RE0 and REmake for your backwards compatible Wii.

TOUGH CHOICE.

Will this a bad time to tell that RE remake both JP and NA version have a glitch that makes Jill use infinite ammo, and most walkthroughs if not all have has a basis that glitch.

Oh my god, those STARS agents are actually having a hard time killing a couple of slow zombies! Don't tell them about having to fend off hundreds of running zombies who actually use guns in Africa!

What remake on the wii doesn't have the heresy of gaming control through motion sensing except if its a resident evil! Dogma aside, i would rather spend those $30 towards buying a new PS2, mine is dying on me and i still haven't played ICO.

I'd love to see remakes of the earlier RE games redone for the 360/PS3 but using the RE5 engine and controls.
