Resident Evil: Afterlife brings the undead to Los Angeles photo

Well, there's another Resident Evil movie in the works, and there's nothing you can do to stop it. It's called Resident Evil: Afterlife, and they're making it like, right now or something.

According to movie Web site ComingSoon, Afterlife is going to continue the series' tradition of making something that only vaguely resembles the games. Screen Gems, the studio behind the upcoming film, has this to say about the plot:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Sure, why not? I mean, I think we can all agree that this sounds like a better idea than pretending the previous three movies didn't happen and then making a film closely based on Resident Evil 4. Right? But I have a question: What's up with the capitalization of "Undead," Screen Gems?

I actually enjoyed the other movies for what they were. Not faithful adaptations, but entertaining movies to watch.

I enjoyed the previous Resi films too, they are just using the name to make sure it sells, its not supposed to be serious and related to the video games in any way, its just good zombie fun, bring on the 4th!

For what they are - mindless action-horror films - they're fine. Especially for the first one which had next to no budget. The only reason anyone shits on them is because "omg they're not carbon copies of the games wah wah wah", which they were never supposed to be in the first place (first was a prequel to the games; after Capcom fucked them over, the second and third films were re-planned to purposefully have only a passing resemblance to the games).

The irony is most gamers shit all over the early Resi games anyway. Even if the films were more like the games, the most popular of the games is Resi 4 which is the least typical game of the series, so most people would still probably not like the films. The Resi films actually reference and copy the games a lot more than most people seem to realise, because most people aren't as familiar with the games as they claim anyway.

Also the reason they may be capitalising 'Undead' is because it's been a bit of a tradition in the production of the films that the zombies as a whole are referred to almost like a single entity. I recall it being mentioned that they use it in the scripts to more clearly define when an undead monster is doing something or when it's being described/mentioned in dialog.

I say, hurrah for a fourth film. They're fun, they're mindless, they were the first zombie film to restart the trend. And any excuse to keep Milla Jovovich around is always good.

I just wanna see more animals being corpsified cause well...

Zombie lions, tigers and bears OH SH!T.

But you're right the header is probably the main reason ppl will see it. Or they just want to see how horrible it is (cause we're gluttons for punishment). I just think it's a step above that vamp thing... Tw-whatever.

I'll see it. The other movies were decent excuses to see Milla's unquestionable hotness.

Ugh, let's hope this week's commentary can overcome the terribleness of the movie.

The faces of those women are priceless.

I'm surprised Ellen Page and vampires aren't in this film. Maybe with

For the record Ellen Page is awesome.
