Resident Evil 5's Alternate Edition missions will be DLC photo

Not too long ago, Capcom asked you to decide between having the Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition content as a new retail package, or getting it as a downloadable add-on. You voted, and more importantly, you voted correctly.

Rather than making us all buy a new copy of RE5 this spring, based on your feedback, Capcom is making the Alternate Edition content available as a download for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America, Europe, and Australia.

In the announcement over on Capcom-Unity, Chris Kramer mentioned a little something about there being more stuff on the way that we don't know about yet. Any ideas on what that could be?

It better be 10/800 then. Anything higher and I get a bit hesitant to drop money on it. Unless it's just a sh*t ton of missions or something.

What about a GotY edition for those of us who have yet to buy it?

Traded in my copy four days after I got it. Incredibly disappointing.

I'll need to hear about what exactly it is before I'll know if I care enough to get it or not.

I will probably get this if the price is right, I think around 10 bucks is good price for about 2-3 hours of gameplay.

Do people still like RE5? I beat it twice and haven't touched it since about a month after it was released.

if this has zombies and fixed camera angles (a lot of the screenshots look like it has the latter) ill be happy. fixed camera angles would be fun for nostalgia's sake. at least then you wouldnt have to worry about chris' ogre back taking up the whole screen

as for the yet to be announced stuff im guessing another "weskers story" or whatever

Personally, I voted for the physical copy. I don't like downloadable content.

Glad - I will download, I don't think I would've bought retail. I want those PC exclusive costumes too while we're at it please. Strangely I am planning on getting Super SF IV even though it's retail.

I guess this is better if you wanted some of it, but not all of it. In the long run for people that want all of the content this is going to be far more expensive. DLC rarely gets permanent price drops, and the few sales it does get are never very substantial.

Good, this is how you do additional content in the era of DLC. No need to make us buy the game all over again just for an additional scene.

@Im OK - There is a difference between new missions in a locked single player game than the entire rebalance of a fighting game with new characters [i]and online system.[/b]

Shut the fuck up.

I still don't get why there was any big decision at all. Why not do both? DLC for those that already own RE5 and a complete edition for those that have yet to pick it up and/or the obsessive collectors out there.

I'm still holding out hope that there will be a complete edition released after all the eventual DLC is unveiled. I'd rather not buy this stuff a bit at a time.

Well at least now if it turns out okay I don't need to buy another new copy of a mediocre game.

I hope Capcom wasn't too influenced by the online poll. I mean, it's an online poll, of course people are going to say they want the content available online. If they did the poll via an in-store survey, they probably would have gotten totally different results.

Last time I checked, more than half the PS3s of the world were not armed with PSN accounts, or an internet connection. Alienating all those PS3 owners is not a good idea, me thinks.

Basically, they should make this new content available both ways.

People that voted have the internet and after Capcom finds that the downloads slow in pace they might release the game as stand alone content and deluxe edition for people that bought it, yet to get it, and get more market share from offline gamers.

@az060693: Are you drunk or have you still not kicked the paint huffing addiction? Seriously, DLC makes no money on the PC?!?!? Stop tripping and recheck before you huff and type because I think you need to at least search on google before making such a comment. Bioware/EA made a KILLING just off the DLC itself for the PC. In under 10! days they already made a whopping one million just on the DLC itself. DLC is used for them to MAKE MONEY, why do you think so many DLC are now coming out, its a quick way to make a buck. Its another form on episodic gaming in a sense. Quick to make new content but very short and cheap prices.
