Resident Evil 5 platform exclusives revealed

Resident Evil 5 platform exclusives revealed photo
     PS3

With a vast majority of this year's heavy hitters out on store shelves, we must now make sure to completely overhype everything 2009 has to offer. Let's get cracking then, and talk about the platform exclusive offers that will be coming with Resident Evil 5.

Yes, each version of RE5 will have something a little different to offer customers. The PlayStation 3 version is packing a "making of" feature, which comes courtesy of folk from Hollywood to give it that professional air. On the Xbox 360, however, fans can enjoy a metal case and a soundtrack CD titled The Biohazard 5 Selection Track. Snazzy.

The main difference here is that the 360 version only gets its extra stuff as part of a limited Deluxe Edition, whereas the PS3 extra ships on the game disc itself.

Quite why these are exclusives is beyond me. They seem like pretty weird choices, but I suppose Capcom knows what it's doing. Which looks like the better deal to you?

I'll be getting this on the PS3. RE5 is a 360 melter if ever their was one.

soundtrack sounds like a stripped-down affair and the full one will be sold separately. metal case looks like crap between plastic cases. PS3 wins.

no, seriously, does anyone give a shit?

I don't care about either platform's exclusives. A big ol' "MEH" here for me.

I still prefer the Jap. version
I'd even pay the 150 bones

I'll be snagging the Playstation 3 version of RE5. Not so much based on careful weighing of the negligible bonuses each edition offers, but more so because my PS Triple is reliable and doesn't smell like charred overshoe after ten minutes of play.

Meh, I am going to buy the non deluxe edition.

Anyways, This make me think about Capcom speaking to Sony and Microsoft:

-Well, hello. We have these products: Soundtrack and making of. We sell this to you as exclusive content for console.

-I will pay for the Making Of. And an extra if you put it inside the blue ray content in non exclusive edition.
-Then that will be much more because we will not sell the deluxe edition.

-Give me the Soundtrack. Dont worry, you will have your deluxe edition.

...

Well, that was not funny... I also want the free content! XD

*yawn*. It all sounds so very unexciting. "making of" videos a relatively standard and dishing out an extra $10 doesn't seem worth it for a sound track. But that's just me. But then again, I'll dish out the extra cash for a limited edition mouse pad. 0__o

Wow. Those are the worst exclusives ever. But I would much rather have the soundtracks because making of videos are really annoying. They should add outtakes.

None of them are deal breaking exclusives to me.

But I'm gonna go with PS3

I like "making of" things so PS3 wins. Also, what Jonathan Holmes and Charles Sharam said.

Seeing as I've only got a 360, the choice is pre-made for me. Neither of those "exclusives" sound all that exciting so I'll just stick to my regular 'ole version.

The soundtrack's the better of them, IMO. Not that it's good at all, of course. Resident Evil isn't great for its music. Most of the time, it's great for the LACK of music. That was before they threw super powered secret agent ultra omega awesome too cool for school man into the mix, of course.

Basically: making of videos never really tell you anything about the making of. Usually they'll just say "Oh hey look at this weirdo programmy version of the almost finished game. Isn't that so amazing. Okay look at it some more. By the way we can make this guy's mouth move for the oh-so-incredible lip syncing which is the footure."

PS3 version. I don't feel like paying extra to get a soundtrack that'll be out for download probably before the game even ships.

However, I'm probably not even buying RE5 anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

PS3, and FYI I have a 360 as well and agree with Jonathan. I'm waiting to see how many "RE5 RROD my xbawx" community blogs, and I don't want to be one of them. If I really wanted the soundtrack I'd torrent it. But both are really "meh" exclusives.

Unless the making of is how to make a zombie or something, both "exclusives" suck bawls IMO, there I said it.

After that though, I will be getting the PS3 version as that's my weapon of choice.

I won't be getting it right at launch. I'll wait, just like I did with 4. RE isn't that great, and I don't see 5 being any better than 4.

However, I just have to know what the wily Wesker is up to!

I can watch the making of when someone uploads it to youtube. The scores for Resident Evil games work, but they aren't winning any awards. Standard 360 version for me please.

Lack of a PS3 = 360 version for me.

Even if I did have a PS3, it would make like my PS2:

Only it's console exclusives get play time, or a beefed-up version of a game that came out already but I didn't already own. All my multi-console purchases go on Xbox/360.

PS3 version it is. RE music has never been all that, I could also download the music if the OST is really good.

I guess technically the PS3 version is a better exclusive, since you don't have to pay extra. Who cares about a metal box or soundtrack you'll never listen to?
Kalmah's Avatar

Isn't it obvious? They're planning on releasing it this way so in the near future they could use the other product as a DLC purchase. For instance, they'd make you purchase the soundtrack on PSN and they're make you purchase the Making-of off XBoxLive.

They could just have given both for free on both console, but NOOOOOOO... they need to profit more from it... as if RE5 won't make them enough profit to begin with :/

Still, as lame as it sounds I'd probably buy it as DLC.

An Xbox 360 US$90 limited edition of Resident Evil 5? Maybe I'll get it (the OST sounds sexy). But why make it "limited"? That's the only real "advantage" of the PS3 version...
DemonEyes23's Avatar

both seem fairly pointless. I mean i guess ps3 owners get theirs for free but who really cares about the making of crap? I guess the xbox one will appeal to those who would buy the deluxe addition and for the life of me i can't see why the offer isn't for both systems but i wouldn't buy it regardless.

@ Seta:

Shit that looks awesome! Either way I think the exclusives for the PS3 and 360 don't really matter. I hate collectors cases and a making of video would be interesting to watch and a soundtrack would be cool but it's not worth the price in my opinion. The 360 exclusives should come with the regular edition though.

Making of documentary is included with the PS3 version cause there's room. It's not included with the 360 version because Capcom's too goddamn cheap to include a second DVD, even for the special limited edition bullshit package. CD's are cheaper. They ripped some mp3s from the game, burn it on a CD, charge more for it, and call it a day.

360 owners are totally used to getting ripped off though, so it's all good.
