Capcom has put together a rousing trailer for Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, and you'll find it above. It's the same one you'll find on their fancy new website for the game, which also launched today. The new site has details on the included new episodes that will be included in Gold Edition. Already have Resident Evil 5? These new episodes will also come as DLC later on. There's some images on the site of the new costumes the characters can wear in Gold Edition. I've always hated Sheva, but she looks kind of cute now in that outfit.
The also includes a climactic scene from the game with new outfits on. Dressed like that, it's hard to take even the most tense moment seriously. That's what I've always loved about the Resident Evil series anyway.
Finally, you'll find some new packaging shots in our gallery below.

Meet the rest of the team
My fiancee's cousin committed suicide back when I was obsessing over this game and playing it all the time... now I can't touch it because of the memories attached. Maybe this DLC will bring me back without taking me back... if you know what I mean.
I'll be diving back in, as well. Last spring I was playing I was playing Street Fighter IV and RE5. This spring I'll be playing new versions of Street Fighter IV and RE5. Life is just wonderful :-)
^You mean all the shooting and death and zombies? Oh yeah, I'm sure that won't bring up thoughts of suicide >_>
Wow. Was that really neccesary? My mom commited suicide while I was in a record store and I was there when I got the phone call and I couldn't go back for a while. Got a smart ass comment for that?
Anyways I still haven't picked this up. I keep hearing mixed things and as a big fan of RE4 but not a big fan of the RE series I just dunno.
Only at Destructoid does a post about DLC for RE5 turn into suicides in people's lives.
I think it even made the thread kill itself.
I'm just very confused what the developers are trying to say when they keep dressing Chris up (alternate costumes, I mean) as the gayest of the gay.
Is this a hint that in Resident Evil 6 Chris and Leon are finally coming out of the closet everyone knows they're in and hooking up?
And will Wesker come in as a zombie and then....I don't want to imagine any farther.
It'd certainly be a different direction for the series.
That nice box art almost makes me want to just buy this, but thankfully common sense is kicking in - I already have the collector's edition, so I'll just get the DLC. If I were to buy it again though, I'd grab the PS3 version since it's also adding those motion controls a la RE4: Wii Edition.
Had such a blast with this game, one of the most fun gaming experiences of the year. But my entire experience is playing with a roommate, local co-op; I've never even touched single-player, which is where I guess a lot of people found things to dislike.
No need for the Gold Edition, but I will happily pick the new DLC content the instant it hits the network.
Sick, sick. Looking forward to this, not the Gold Edition, only the DLC.
Also, I totally agree with TheTruth on this one. Why all the ridiculous, ghey costumes? I don't get it. Capcom, please - Give us alternate fits we'd actually wanna see these characters wear.
I refuse to buy another Resident Evil game until they include the Merchant. He was the most entertaining part of RE4. If they made a buddy comedy starring the Merchant and the G Man from Halflife, I'd be in heaven.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyway, I lost my 360 copy of the game after I got all the achievements and I wanted to play it again. Guess I'll get this version for the PS3 then.
YES.

RE5 was one of the most disappointing games I've played in a while.
