We're now hearing that Resident Evil 5's release has been pushed back to November, according to PSU. They say that their source at Capcom sends that word along, and that it's being pushed back from the earlier rumored October release. I'm fine with that; racist rioting is more fun during the holidays anyway.
They also say that Sherry Birkin, Claire's little helper from Resident Evil 2, will play a role in the fifth installment. She'll be a ripe young 22 years old in this game. Woo!
Also, there's a new counter on ResidentEvil.com. Capcom really likes their countdown timers, don't they? PSU thinks it may have something to do with an upcoming trailer. Sounds good to me!
It looks like a downed camera, focused on a building that has smoke coming out of it. What do you make of this?

What could those number mean?
Those numbers aren't going down. But what the fuck are they counting up to? And why are there two of them?
Also, some random guy (who looks white) walked around the building after a little while.
Maybe it's the Resident Evil CG movie?
And RE5 is 2009. I don't believe for a second it's coming out this year.

Regardless of what they finally do say, I'm saying early 2009 at the earliest. Especially if it's not playable at Captivate this week ...
That October rumor never held any water so you can't really consider any later rumored release date as being a delay. Any date in 2008 would be a bump up, not a delay.
Capcom has done well with January release dates in the past (RE4, Lost Planet) so I wouldn't expect RE5 before then either.
BUT WAIT!! ACHTUNG!! Isn't Left For Dead also hitting 360 in November? All bloody zombie giblets x2, I want both games but which shall I buy and play first? And this is before or around the same time as Gears of War 2, aswell.
This makes me so happy I have a 360. Whatever happens, this xmas is gonna be an almighty blast for games.

The code is the script for the splash screen you see at the beginning, as for why it shows at the bottom...I haven't a clue. Save the code in notepad, then rename the filetype to .htm and then you can open it and see.
