Resident Evil 5 demo is live on the PlayStation Network today photo

...and it's exactly like the Xbox Live demo. Same stages, nothing different really. Or maybe there is something -- more on that tomorrow.

So, you've probably already played this. Iif you're really curious and have the free hard disk space, get it anyway. If you don't have an Xbox 360, go out and grab it now on PSN as a download just short of 1GB.

This is personal preference, but I do like playing it on the DualShock controller a bit better. I feel like I'm busting off gunshots and face slashes quicker using Type A control, with the arming set to the L1 and R1 buttons. Of course, it could be my imagination, too. I like the freedom of Type D, but somehow I always come running back to Type A.

I'm predicting that I'm going to start doubting Type A when things get tough in the full game, though. What control are you playing with?

I already reserved this for the PSTriple, it just feels more @ home considering I've played all the previous ones on the Playstations control.

Somehow I always play a game with the default control scheme, Resident Evil 5 included. I don't know, it feels like it's the way the game is meant to be played, so I trust the game designers on this one.

Though game designers are not always to be trusted... *looks at Sonic Team suspisciously*

@vince: I too share your feeling of usually going default, but in my humble opinion, A OR B IS THE ONLY CONTROL FOR RE5!!!!

I hated it at first with default..just no, no no that control is not what RE should be and it feels wrong. But after going with B I'm in love, and can not wait for the whole game..but what system damn it!

I have played with all different control types and here are my favorites in order B,C,D,A.

There you have it. I like type B the best... with inverted controls of course.

did anyone notice that theres a poster on a wall in the demo (behind the wrecked bus) which is identical to a poster in a music shop in dead rising?

I'm all for the one that's most like RE4. I just like the familiar style, but I need to test the other ones just to make sure.

And wait, more on possible differences tomorrow? I'm intrigued now...

My gawd! What a game!
Playing online, with a friend, is pretty much awesome!
Oh yeah - I play with the default control scheme... So far, so good!
Thank you, Capcom!

i did not like the way the characters controlled. in that i mean move about. i miss my walking tank and the series has gotten to wanting mainstream approval after code veronica for me and lost its campy, backstory filled, b-movie awesome chessyness appeal the first two had.

this once again reinforces why i hate playing demos.

I think it is 500mb more because it looks better? I got the JP 360 demo and I found the US PS3 demo looked BETTER.

Why in the world every PS3 version of a multi-platform game has lower resolution textures and more jaggies??? To name the latest few - GTA4, Fallout 3, FEAR 2, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, Bioshock and now Resident Evil 5??? We've all seen that there CAN be gorgeous graphics on the PS3 - MGS4 (well, this one is not so gorgeous due to simplicity of the textures, but still looks fine), Uncharted, Resistance 2, coming Killzone 2 (all of which are - surprise! - exclusives). Why can't the multi-platform games be the same? Why pretty much every multi-platform game on the PS3 suffers from jaggies and lower framerates??? So frustrating :(

@ farlander I have Bioshock for ps3 and my friend has it for PC and they both look pretty identical to me. Maybe if you where to put them side by side I might be able to find some discrepancies somewhere. All those games you mentioned I played on ps3 and they all look great, but then again I'm not really looking for low rez textures. For the record Resistance 2 is an amazing game hands down, but its graphics are not the best, there is better.

@pascuz46: Sure, if you have nothing to compare it to - it might look fine. But once you run BioShock on 360 and PS3 side by side - you will never be able to look at the PS3 version the same way. Same goes for pretty much every other multiplatform game. You have to see both versions to see the difference. If you have only PS3 - then you have no problem :) To me the problem has always been the choice: which version do I get? And the latest examples prove what many have said for a long time: all mutliplatform games, with a VERY FEW exceptions, are best on the 360: higher resolutions, less noticeable jaggies and better framerates. So to those who own both consoles, Resident Evil 5 looks best on the 360 (higher resolution and better framerates).

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!

Another great example of innovation, I am glad to find it. There are so many developers working on this segment but this is one of the best innovative idea ever. Thanks for sharing it here.

Even if this theory doesn't lead to a translation, it could tell us what language the disk is written in and what kind of a document it is.
