Resident Evil 5 cast revealed? photo

Everyone is getting pretty excited over the new trailer for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Everyone except for me. Look, when the news was originally announced, I was a happy little boy. I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, but even I have my limits. Umbrella Chronicles is taking the previous games and mixing them into one little package. So what does that mean? It means that I've already played this game 15 times now.

Let me break it down:

Resident Evil 1 for PS1, DS, GC, plus the Directors Cut. Also add Resident Evil 0. Now add Resident Evil 2 for the N64, PS1, and GC. Add Resident Evil 3 for DC, PS1, and GC. Plus Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the DC and GC. Finally add Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and GC (eventually I'll get the Wii version). Add all that up and it equals 15 times I've played the six main games already.

Yes, I know that this is going to be a co-op game and have new content, but COME ON! Anyway, this post is not about RE: UC, I just needed to get that off my chest first. The main reason I'm writing this is to bring back attention to Resident Evil 5, a game that hasn't been getting the hype it deserves. So hit the jump for some speculative facts.

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining John Martone and God Len for Spoiler-San. As we shot the sh*t on all things Cowboy Bebop, we started digging around IMDB for information on the voice actors. God Len came across Wendee Lee's profile and saw that she has been cast in Resident Evil 5. So unless Capcom decides to completely change the game from this day forth, here's a list of the characters that will be making an appearance in RE5:

Alyson Court ... Yoko Suzuki
Tara Platt ... Jill Valentine
Michael Gough ... Osmund Saddler
Wendee Lee ... Rita
Richard Waugh ... Albert Wesker
Sally Cahill ... Ada Wong (voice)
James Harper ... Ozwell E. Spencer
Dan Cool ... Steve Burnside

So veterans Jill, Steve, Ada, Rita and the always lovable Albert are making a reappearance. Two new characters, Yoko Suzuki and Rita will be introduced in the game as well. The news of Jill and Albert being in the game is interesting enough, but how about the news that Osmund Saddler and Steve Burnside are going to be in the game. For one thing, they're both dead! Osmund was the final baddie from Resident Evil 4 and Steve was Claire's ally from Code Veronica. Now, this is Resident Evil after all, so death isn't always  the end.

There are two possible explanations for their return. Either their DNA was extracted from them at one point after they were infected with the T-Veronica virus and the Las Plagas parasites and cloned. Or the game takes place before the events of RE4 and RE:CV. In a way, that does make sense IF the scenario has Jill and the gang fighting Umbrella once again since the corporation was destroyed in RE 4. Whatever the case may be, I'm still hoping for a T-Virus/Las Plagas hybrid virus.

Also of note is that Ozwell Spencer, the main man who created the Umbrella Corporation and has never appeared in any of the games at all, is going to make an appearance in RE 5. There is one more character from the past who might be making a reappearance. Thanks to Blindside Dork, Billy Coen (from RE 0) may be back. Capcom, for some reason or another, asked the voice actor to take off the information from his page

One last bit of info to share is that fan site Resident Evil Horror found news that Famitsu may have a story on RE 5 and more importantly, there will be some news about the game next week at E3. RE Horror has been wrong about RE 5 news in the past, so don't get too hyped up. Don't worry though, I'll be hounding Capcom next week for any info on the game.

Fucking Steve Burnside, that whiny little bitch...

And Hamza, Umbrella Chronicles is gay. It's like House of the Dead only not as awesome, which completely ruins the entire survival horror aspect of the Resident Evil series.

Anything good + Wii = Fail.

I was also excited for the RE:UC until finding out it's another rehash, and a rail shooter to boot. RE5 is where it's at. But what's with the cast listing? No Chris yet? Could the lead character be a female now? I really hope not.

If you played Code Veronica X, in the new "With More Wesker" content, the extra ending had him mentioning taking Steve's body and he even told Claire "If you're lucky, you may even see Steve alive again someday." Or something like that. So I think it's safe to assume Wesker resurrected Steve, like he did himself after being "killed" by the Tyrant at the end of RE1, probably brain washed him into some sort of henchman or something.

Saddler on the other hand, I can really find any explanation unless it's taking place sometime around Resident Evil 4 and he's only making a small cameo before his eventual demise.

I'm a bit confused.... how come next to ada's name it says (voice), will she seen in the game or just heard?

The irony here is...none of the names revealed in the list could possibly be "homedude from screenshots and trailers", unless explained through retcons such as Steve's hair was dyed when he was incarcerated, or Ozwell Spencer founded Umbrella when he was 10.

It's quite possible that he's Billy.

Apologize for the triple post.

I misread what you said BlindsideDork, but Code:Veronica and Code:Veronica X are the same game. Only difference is that X included the bonus Wesker's Report disc and some new cutscenes.

So they are different!!! muwahahha.

An example....for the PSOne they made a Resident Evil, and then a Resident Evil Director's Cut. Then the DualShock came out and Resident Evil Director's Cut w/DualShock came out. Not sure if there was just REw/DS....but anyways...

A review came out and they said the DualShock version was dumbed down, bad angles, bad sound, it was a sucky port! So I paid like an extra $15 back in the day for the REGULAR Director's Cut at a KayBee toys!

Hey, if you enter a topic called "Resident Evil 5 case revealed" you should expect spoilers. Common sense really is all it takes.

Also I was wrong. The guy in the RE5 trailer IS Chris Redfield. He can't be Billy Coen because he lacks tattoos on his arm.

I'm excited for both RE:UC and RE5. It's not like you can only be interested in one or the other.

This is great news about RE5. I was worried that the story might be weak, taking place in the dessert is not the best idea for spooky good times.

But if Saddler and Spencer are in the game, then we are bound to really see what connection Los Illuminados and Umbrella have. That will be cool.

Hamza, you think YOU'RE sick of RE2? Not as much as me.

I'm talking playing the N64, PS1, PC, DC, GC, and in a brief moment of weakness, the Game.com version out of curiosity.

Can't even look at it now.

Trevor McGee: Thank's for that info. Looks like Steve's return is explainable.
Kurse: Ah, see I had no idea Yoko was in Outbreak. That's the only one I haven't played yet.
ThunderStain: My mistake on that. IMDB listed them all with voice next to their name since this is a video game. She'll be in the game more than just being heard.
Everyone else: Sorry about not putting spoiler warnings. You'll get over it :P

This game will get the hype once they start showing something! Until then, it's cool to just chill. I think they have a very hard challenge ahead of them in making this game top RE 4. It's like a blockbuster movie that worked so well the first time and for the sequel they just do everything bigger and thats it.

I've been a fan of the RE series, so everyone who's pissing on Umbrella Chronicles can suck it.

It's cool that Capcom is sort of revamping the horror genre in more suspenseful ways with the new games, while giving the fans an insight on what the hell really happened in between the original trilogy.

But then again, everyone who played RE4 before all the others knew shit about the series and only played it because of the publicity.

Please.

@ CTZ

If you're curious, you can check out the Code Veronica X ending on YouTube. I liked it a lot more than the original "just leave" ending they had before, and who the hell can't want more Wesker? Honestly the extra Wesker stuff made me want the game more since he's such a bad ass. I'm pretty sure this became the official canon ending to Code Veronica so it wasn't just an extra thrown in for the sake of doing it.

The IMDB cast info on that page is user submitted, so unfortunately means literally zilch.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432021/board/thread/77009569?d=77012281&p=1#77012281

People are adding fake info to prove a point (that IMDB seem to put anything people submit up, for games anyway).

It could be Billy in a prequel, since Billy was sentenced to death for crimes in AFRICA. And possibly he got his tattoos later. And the logo has two A's and a D, but it's not STARS.

All I know is that I have been patiently waiting a damn release date for RE5. Didn't they show the trailer in 2005? It's almost been 3 years! I mean don't get me wrong, I want them to take there time and all. But DAMN! Give me a confirmed release date so I can mark my calender. Make plans for the day it's released. Have a BBQ and a "couple" of beers to celebrate. Play the game. Beat it. Beat it again and again and again. Then sit and complain about how long they're taking to come out with RE6. Is that too much to ask?

Well my dear friends the women in the tube can only possibly be two people due to the fact that the person is blond. It is either Alexia, which would make sense due to the fact that the T-Veronica virus allows someone or thing to be revived, and the women has blue eyes like Alexia does. Second Sherry could be it seeing she hasn't been in the games for a while, has blond hair, and lets not forget her daddy dearest made the g virus and wesker virus...but do to my love for her as the best RE villain i think it will be Alexia and pray it is
