Resident Evil 5 area available in Home, we explore it photo

The narrow dirt pathways were serpentine, coiled around dilapidated huts. I was alone, but I knew others had been to this place before me. Their footprints, etched into the soil, created divots that an ancient storm filled with water. Rusty, limp chain link and grimy blankets surrounded the area. I became uneasy when I walked into one of the broken buildings. No lights, no sound, no modern trappings. It was foul and dark. The lack of anything made it obvious that the people who may have lived there left long ago.

Even though the area was digital, I could almost smell something. It was familiar. I contemplated it while dancing the robot. It hit me. I could almost smell Kijuju.

I realized, suddenly, that I had stumbled into Capcom’s new Resident Evil 5 area in PlayStation Home. It must have debuted today, I thought to myself. I switched to the tango and used the “shake fist” macro.

I stumbled around the area, found a map of its contents. A Butcher’s Shop, an RE 5 archive, and a souvenir shop were available. Where were the stores? What else could you do in the space?

Nothing. Except dance the robot and spam “Hello” with the triggers. All the shops were closed; nothing to see or do. I turned off my PlayStation 3.

Nuh-uh! They may not be African, but they're definitely zombies.

Nice descriptions. You just made Home sound more interesting than it could ever hope to be. Even when blatantly making fun of it.

Home's like one of these eerie abandoned theme parks... except the life in it is growing, not shrinking.

I imagine after playing it at launch, then never since, I might have a couple of fun hours exploring (downloading at least) the new parts.

I enjoy reading a lot of the Destructoid articles, but this is a completely worthless cheap shot that just shows a lack of research/ interest to actually find out WHY you can't do anything in the RE5 space yet.

The content within it is unlocked through using the RE5 disc, so without that of course it's going to be useless... the spaces are designed to be for fans of the games they represent and offer bonus content as a reward - seems pretty cool to me?

The RE5 space is at least moving Home in the right direction, with allowing games to directly interact with it.

Try researching before writing an article to spur on Xbots please... jeez

Yes, this is totally all about spurring on "xbots"

and totally not making fun of the fact that a game space in a glorified second life clone requires you to actually BUY a game to see any cute promotional content the game unlocks in HOME

This sounds like a true survival horror aspect addition to the RE4/RE5 formula.

Again the point of these spaces is a virtual forum for fans of a game to trade info/tricks/find friends and such in a more personal setting. Instead of sitting at a computer typing in game forums, they can go into home and "talk" to "people" in order to accomplish these things instead. It's much more interactive and personalizes the games you like even more. Not sure why there is so much hating on it other than it's the PS3, and it's apparently still cool to hate on it for no reason.

PixelJunky: Have you been on Home?

Because I've been on Home, and it's pretty fucking useless when the WarHawk sandbox tables used to plan strategic stuff have boobies drawn on ALL OF THEM instead.

Pretty.
Fucking.
Useless.

Besides, why would you release a Space that requires a game to do anything, for a game that is not even out? That also makes the space pretty fucking useless waste of cash and time.

@Daxelman - just because that was your experience doesn't mean you can't find a meaningful use of your time in home. That's like me saying, have you been on Xbox Live and heard all the racial/bigoted slurs?

That's just is Pixel, I CAN'T find a meaningful use of my Time in Home. I can't even find a meaningful waste of my time. I'd rather just have PSN be worked on damnit.

And that's happened multiple times, with others as well. I had to check if it was true when I heard it from a friend.
