I was as surprised as you were to hear that
Resident Evil 4 was finally released on the PC in Europe (the US gets it this May). I was even more surprised to hear that the game's visuals were severely downgraded, due to what appeared to be a sloppy porting job.
It looks like the game's publisher, UbiSoft, is making nice. A patch for the game has been released that appears to significantly improve the look of the game. The 70 megabyte patch appears to contain new textures and add lighting, making the game significantly easier on the eyes.

I resisted the urge to buy RE4 for the GC just because I wanted to play it on the PC. If there's no mouse support, I'll be pissed.

Anyway the controls suck (no mouse support), the graphics are crap, and believe me I tried to play it all the way through but couldn't finish. In hind sight, how good can a port of a port be?

If the U.S. version is already patched, then the graphics are simply shitty. They look ok enough to play the game and all but they could be "Cleaner", Sharper, less pixelated with clear, smoother edging (similar to the PS2 or even similar to Doom 3 for PC. HEll, even Doom 3 has better graphics.
Anyhow, I just tried the MouseAim and to tell you the truth, it isn't worth the effort.
There is no way to speed up the way it allows you to look around (a person could get killed in the time it takes to look from right to left.) Also, in the Configuration Tools in RE4, you can map the keys on the keyboard... I have the Quotes (") Key set as my Run key so it is easier to reload and run. With MouseAim enabled, all I do is walk all the time and can't run.
It really isn't worth it people.
