Well, this came out of nowhere. It seems that Capcom Japan has come out with Resident Evil 4 for the iPhone. The game was released on the App store but was quickly pulled off for whatever reason. Someone jumped the gun too soon? AppBank managed to snag the game before it was taken off and took some video of it in action, which you can check out after the jump.
Well, it doesn't look all that bad. I'm kind of impressed that the iPhone can pull that off. Granted, I'd never ever want to play something like Resident Evil 4 on the iPhone. Hopefully we'll hear something soon from Capcom on what this is all about.
What do you all think of it? How's it look to you?
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Yeah, the graphics look just barely tolerable (even for a portable console.) The way the zombies pants blends in with the ground scares me.
The real problem have with this control scheme is the lack of shoulder buttons. It might be a lot easier to handle virtual buttons on screen if I had some buttons that don't block my view nor cause me to block my own view of the game.
Like Kincaid said, it looks to control near-identical to Resident Evil: Degeneration which wasn't "bad," but that touch analog nub control scheme is just not working for me on any iPhone game. I definitely like feeling my, uh... stick. Uh...
Yeah, this doesn't seem unlikely, though. Degeneration was powered by an engine capable of this, and considering the success of RE4, this will probably sell rather well.
This didn't come out of no where. This is really old news. I remember seeing screen shots of this game a while ago, and I'm pretty sure it was discussed on Destructoid before as well. The video is new, but RE4 on the iPhone is far from new news. It was even in magazines.
Anyway, it doesn't look so bad for an iPhone game I guess. I'm kind of surprised it was ported to the DS at this rate.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I hate the virtual D-pad and buttons set up so much though.
Now try doing RE5, iPhone?
You need to have your eyes checked the graphics look atrocious.
The controls look really awkward as well.

I'm also working on an RE4 port for SNES, Genesis, GBC, and Atari 2600.
