Reserving inFamous at GameStop nets you an exclusive power photo

Out of all the PlayStation 3-exclusive games coming out this year, inFamous is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated.

While we're still months away from the game's launch in June, GameStop is already letting us know that you aren't going to be pre-ordering elsewhere if you want to have all of Cole McGrath's powers.

Reserve inFamous and receive a code that unlocks the GameStop exclusive Gigawatt Blades Power. With electric blades extending from his wrists, a single blow annihilates any foe and transforms Cole's hands into instruments of sheer destruction. Yet still gentle enough to allow for the occasional tickling.

I fail to understand why you would tickle people who want you dead, but if the ability to do so doesn't appear in the full game, I'm going to be disappointed, and then angry at you, GameStop. I don't normally have a problem with in-game bonuses for reserving a game, since they're usually just silly/stupid costumes, but this is kind of annoying.

What do you guys think?

Why should the game come incomplete, as it were, just because you didn't purchase it at Gamestop? Agreed, annoying.

Looks like a cool power, but I don't think preordering to get a code is a brilliant idea. It seems a little unfair to me. (Then again I could just google search the code, so what the heck.)

This announcement annoyed me. I'm fine with people getting exclusive costumes and such, but extra powers? I usually don't reserve copies of games because I'm usually pretty broke. So it is kind of unfair when a consumer like me, who probably will buy the game (if it's good) at some point, misses out on parts of the actual game because I didn't have the money to buy it right when it came out.

Frustrating.

Hmmm... The ability to tickle to death... sounds AMAZING. I did tickle my gf till she peed the other day...

Retarded. That said I was planning on preordering it anyway so I guess I won't complain too much.

So am I to understand that this move is special because you can annihilate any foe in a single blow, which is to say all of your other moves can't do that?

If so, umm, Risk vs Reward balancing?

If not, umm, okay?

Retarded != stupid? Where have you been for the past decade?

People with their PC bullshit these days...

It depends, really. Normally the perks are cosmetic, but I wonder how much this will affect the game. I usually buy new games at gamestop and used games at goozex. I also trade in my old games at goozex, so I have a whole system going. I don't mind buying games at gamestop, but I think their trading system is a rip.

I was unaware this game was a PS3 exclusive. I just assumed it was multiplatform like everything else these days. Hopefully it'll give me a reason to turn on my PS3.

It's usually just a code you can get off the internet. God I hope it is.

Bravo, companies still don't pay attention to the communies' outrage when they pull bullshit like this. I usually don't mind as long as its unlockable in any other manner or it doesn't affect multiplayer in any way.

So it's a 1 hit kill weapon.

Who would actually use this?

I don't understand the issue some people have with pre-ordering to get the code. Usually I'll pre-order and then return it immediately so I can get my free stuff and when it goes cheaper, I usually get it.

Hmm. I was planning on getting this at some point but just wasn't sure I was going to preorder. While this sounds cool I hope its a generic code you can find on the net somewhere. But I doubt it. I see it being a code you put in and then download something over the PSN. If it works that way there won't be a generic code for it.

If this game doesn't have multiplayer, I wouldn't worry much about not having an extra special power. I'd rather wait than reserve a game that might turn out bad.

I'm not the one who needs to work on their reading comprehension skills bub. What I was saying was that retarded has been slang for stupid for at least a decade and by PC I meant political correctness which in my book is just as bad as having a juvenile vocabulary.

Corak: It's almost definitely a generic code. If it's a DLC code they'll be selling it in the future anyway, so just wait until the game is $40 and grab it that way. But it won't be, this will be on the Internet probably before the game is even officially out.

As someone that was already planning on buying the game, has a habit of reserving every game that he buys and usually does both of these things at GameStop I guess I just have to say "oh" and stay the course. If you're really concerned about this, buy the game from Gamestop; it isn't like it will be different than buying it anywhere else.

I never did understand the hate for Gamestop. I've heard the reasoning, but it always seems like complaining about the same return policy every other store I've ever been to has, or that they won't give you $90 for your old copy of Final Fantasy 7. They're just a retailer.

instead of going to Gamestop and having one of those non-comission-getting employees try to get me to pre-order, I'll sit this one out and wait till two minutes after the game is released to read the code on the internets.

What happened to the old days when i got a sweet T-shirt with Cloud Strife on it? That's a pre-order bonus. Cheesy content anyone with an internet connection can unlock is not a bonus at all. It's like if you bought Contra and they emailed you the Konami code after you purchased it. Thanks guys!

Echoing the - If it's a DLC code then it's bullcrap - sentiment. What happens to people without GameStop (like people Not in America).

Is this linked to an exclusive time travel power? When Cole McGrath's hands generate 1.21 Gigawatts worth of power can he go back in time to save himself from his own future?

More questions than answers here, Gamestop!

It looks like a differently coloured version of a power that'd be in the game anyway. I'll be really pissed off if they don't include something similar in the standard game. I'm sure it's just like the suits in Dead Space, basically the same as the standard game, but slightly more powerful (and therefore game-breaking).

I'll be pissed if there isn't a watered down blue version of this weapon , or if that doesn't later go DLC (like Kratos sackboy) , I mean , I don't even HAVE teh choice , the only US game store that delivers to Brazil is CD Universe ...

No thanks and F GameStop and the game companies that complain about their second-hand sales and then continue to support them with this crap.

I agree with the sentiment of others about what happened when they gave out game shirts and similar items as pre-order bonuses rather than stupid electronic codes that will eventually be on the PSN?

Vendor exclusive content is such a lame sales ploy. Turns me off to the whole game, actually... and from Gamestop, and from Sony, and from the publisher, etc.

If you still have the ability to download the power later, then this isn't all that bad. It is terrible if this in-game ability is available only to GameStop pre-orderers, and never again to anyone else.
