Reserve Assassin's Creed II and get an old place to visit photo

Challenge rooms, gold weapons, downloadable maps, levels and now places. GameStop has the exclusives, folks. Might as well get used to it. This afternoon Joystiq found an interesting pre-order bonus for Assassin’s Creed II: with every online and offline reserve copy of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version, players will receive a code to download the Palazzo Medici. It’s optional content, apparently full of "treasure."

This super exclusive bonus is only available while supplies last, so act fast if you’re interested in downloading a place where dinosaurs once roamed and famous painters like Donatello hung their tapestries.

Fun fact:  over-the-counter pre-orderers’ codes won’t be on any mere piece of paper. Oh no. They’ll be getting something called a “rave card.” Despite our seven hundred e-mails of inquiry, GameStop has yet to comment if the card plays crappy house music or glows in the dark.

I'm honestly getting tired of reserve bonuses. I know its a good marketing technique but god damn it, just put it in the game. Perfect recent example: CTS Costume for Yoshimitsu in Tekken 6? AWESOME! Reserve only? UGH!

I just hate having to commit myself to a game that I figure I can get later after I buy games I want more.

"While supplies last"?

Can they really run out of giving people the ability to unlock something that's already on the game disc?
This is kind of bullshit.

why is this in pc updates when it only applies to console versions?

I'm more interested in assassin's creed II for the architecture than the gameplay. Having visited some of the regions of the game, it would be nice to see them "in the old days"

Somebody should make a game where you explore old cities for clues and go on treasure hunts. I'd be all over it. It could have downloadable content to create new hunts, and multiplayer to see who can get the clues an the treasure first, somewhat like the amazing race.

It's ok to steal this idea, just mention me in the credits!

By crappy house music you must have meant amazingly cheesy but rad? :(
I vote the card should play Rave On from Killer 7 on repeat (that is the music from all the staircases).

Man that would cause instantaneous pre-order for me...

Make sure to fall for this marketing bullshit, everyone. Artificial scarcity always rocks.

I would really like some criticism towards these sorts of things, if they really need to be discussed at all.

I liked the first game... until it got repetitious. I'll wait on reviews and opinions from other gamers before investing in the second game - which means that a pre-order is not in the cards for this game! :(

That "while supplies last" phrase is hilarious.

I really don't get into these pre-order codes and shit. I like physical swag-type goods as pre-order bonuses.

As a student of architecture I find this rad.

The card could just praise something to death instead of getting high off lights...

I ordered the Special AC2 Black Edition in Holland 2 weeks ago, so I should be getting this, the Venetian Arsenal Wharf and the Santa Maria Dei Frari (Venice) packed in. I suppose these will be available 2 weeks later as DLC for non-early adopters.

I guess these DLC-packages serve as extra areas in which the player will be able to find treasures, which he can sell for cash. Ezio could then use the cash to buy upgrades from da Vinci or bribe some prostitutes to distract targets, I guess

I think the DLC will not be all that subtantial but a nice bonus.
