The story goes like this -- Nintendo finally adds a few WiiWare demos to the Wii Shop Channel. After that, the five games that are graced with demos see a mild to extreme increase in sales. People start to think that maybe Nintendo understands the importance of the online marketplace. Children sleep soundly at night. God beats the Devil at Marvel Vs Capcom 2 using a team of Roll, Servebot, and Dan. All is right with the world.
So of course, Nintendo decides to cancel the service. They wouldn't be Nintendo if they didn't turn left while everyone else is going right. Sometimes I'm fully behind their weird ways, but not this time. This decision is nothing but dumb. Let's just hope that this is just a temporary cancellation, and that after the few months it will likely take for them to get their collective heads out of each others' collective asses, the gang at Nintendo will start with the demos again, this time for keeps.
The five current WiiWare demos are for Pokemon Rumble, NyxQuest, FFCC:My Life as a Darklord, World of Goo, and Bit.Trip BEAT. There is a brief Destructoid mention at the end of that last one, so why not download it just for that, or better yet, gift it to a friend? That would make me happy, so you should do it. Plus, I'd wager that the more people that grab these demos, the greater our chances of getting more of their kind. Free stuff is good. Download now please.
WiiWare Demos Coming Down Jan 31st! [GaijinGames]
...but FUCKING AWESOME!
EA can give me a dozen videos for Dante's Inferno on my PSP, but no demo. Then Game Arts throws down a Lunar demo out of the blue two weeks before release of Silver Star Harmony.
And then there are demos for games I bought months ago just now showing up. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
Yes. Yes he did.
and Servbot*
..that's not to say im giving them a pass. i'm saying they should have demos for as much as possible, all the time. and while we're at it, they shouldn't rotate the ds demos either... up all the time! hell now that SDHC is usable by the wii, we should be able to get full retail wii demos too, for those that want to invest in the space.
But what if they put up five more good demo's in its place? Like LostWinds 2, Swords & Soldiers, Mega Man 9, Bit.Trip Core, and Max & the Magic Marker. Its not ideal for the to take the old ones away, but its better than none at all. Plus if they keep putting demo's up for the really good games they'll get them all done eventually. Some of the games no one will ever care about, so they don't need to bother with them. They should just release demo's for the highly reviewed games.
Anyway, I tried:
World of Goo, just for curiosity, I have the full version on PC.
Pokemon Rumble, for curiosity too, and wow, it's actually fun, but I don't think it's enough to buy the full ones.
Bit.Trip BEAT, awesome. It was my intention to buy the full game even before triyng the demo :D .
NyxQuest, not tried yet...
Nintendo: Agreed.
Deploy the Fuck Things Up machine. Set controls for 31st Jan.
WiiWare Devs: But that doesn't make se...
Nintendo: DO IT.
God dammit!
this makes no sense at all. what is nintendo thinking? demos help sell games.
Everyone's Wii's sing to themselves like the Tin Man, 'if I only had a hard drive'.
To only have five up at a time, seems to indicate that they have no dedicated servers or not enough of them, for serving game demos only
