Remedy paranoid about Alan Wake spoilers photo

Alan Wake has all the makings of an incredible plot-driven game, and Remedy knows it. In fact, the studio is so keen on people enjoying Alan Wake's story that it's gone a little paranoid in its desire to keep us completely free of spoilers, planning to make sure the 360 exclusive's ending remains a secret.

"I think we're going to be insanely careful about how much of the story we reveal," explains Remedy Entertainment managing director Matias Myllyrinne. "We'll clearly discuss with some of our friends at Microsoft whether we even give the ending of the game for anybody's preview. I'd like to hold it back, don't want anybody to spoil it for the audience. That's just my personal feeling."

A noble effort, though it seems to be that the more determined somebody is to avoid spoilers, the more determined the Internet is to spoil. Hopefully Remedy can keep its ending under wraps, but I have a feeling that Youtube will have the game's finale ripped and uploaded before Alan Wake ever sees a store shelf.

Agreed. This is why we can't have nice things.

I think this is a bit of a hint, DToid, and news sites in general. If mystery blogger spews some nonsense about a game, don't post it as: 'RUMOR: Alan Wake will have zombies' and make the entire world believe you.

Keep your text shut until we know for sure, and even then, please don't post more than two articles. I'd like to have at least a little mystery left for this mysterious game.

Spoilers are just the nasty result of a society that doesn't deem the action of systematically killing all people involved in a project to main secrecy as "acceptable".

Since it's going to most likely be pirated a good couple of weeks before its release, I'm pretty sure spoilers are going to be rampant.

@ MrSadistic

Not if assholes stop pirating games. Problem solved.

I'm not sure this game is high enough on anyone's radar to even give a shit. Just concentrate on releasing the fucking game. I know how to not click on things.

Oh yeah, the game I was looking forward to until the E3 demo where it appeared to be not at all what they advertised and instead a simple Alone in the Dark clone, with light instead of fire. And then they stopped the PC version, removing what small amount of interest I had left.

So, big whoop.

hopefully they aren't hinging the game on a "6th sense" style twist.

if so dtoid can have a new meme where everyone spoils the game for those that didn't play/ finish it in the first two weeks. cause that's funny right? spoiling things is funny.

Oh you poor, poor, unrealistically optimistic soul.

Anyway if I were Remedy I'd be paranoid too.

Good. I was so fucking pissed that the whole big thing with MW2 was spoiled. It was one thing for Dtoid to harmlessly hide the story with major spoilers such as, "MAJOR SPOILERS BIG REVEAL IN MW2," but it was another to go to GameSpot's front page and see "________ CONFIRMED IN MW2."

I love Remedy's writers, and Max Payne's plot is a favorite. I want Alan Wake to be completely devoid of spoilers for me.

Openly saying they wanted to be careful about spoilers just pretty much ensured that big spoilers will spread around weeks before release. Maybe if they kept quiet about it this would have been a lot less likely to happen or at least intentionally get spread around as much.

How would people go looking for these spoilers. Unless you hang around message boards and comment threads about the game,, just don't go LOOK for them.

If you wanna take drastic measures, don't use the Internet for a month until the game comes out.
