Reimagined NES makes gamer hearts go pitter-patter photo

It was a confusing first few moments, receiving this tip and trying to make sense of what I was seeing. I think the problem was that I was looking for a price tag or a story, and sadly neither was to be found. What you are seeing above only exists as a figment of the imagination of Javier Segovia, a Spanish artist who works mostly in the digital realm.  This is his take on a reimagined NES, called "reNESED".

While this is the only game related thing Javier has done, I have to say I find it impressive that he managed to make the old look new and yet not lose the look that made it what it was. I would buy this thing if it existed, only to be able to show friends that come over my weird hybrids as they shook their heads and felt mildly sorry for me.

[Thanks Adam!]

Looks crap if you ask me. And the guy needs to work on the modeling skills, unless the idea is to cut people's hands up whenever they hold the controllers.

Honestly, I would get one too. (Assuming the price tag wasn't ridiculous, but it'd be worth a bit looking that cool though!)

Reminds me of the Messiah NEX. I had so much hope for that little gray box, but the reviews fell flat...

How hard can it be to successfully recreate a piece of 20-year-old hardware?

I'm sure there is a very talented person out in the mod community that could make this a reality.

I don't know. It doesn't look radically different enough to warrant a second thought from me.

From the picture, there doesn't appear to be a cart slot. Maybe it could have a hard drive that runs not-roms?

A wireless NES controller would instantly get lost or broken. It does look good though

Where would the games go?!?!? I don't see anywhere for the games to go!!! :( :( :( :(

Very cool stuff. Like you said, looks as slick as today's electronics but still looks like an NES. Love it! :)

I dont like it. He loses the pointy corners and edges on the console and yet he keeps them on the controller. If you're gonna make a retro upgrade on a system, the first thing you shouldnt mess up is the controller. Since those who still play the old systems would want the controller to have the same size and feel (or maybe bigger just like those who played it back in the day have known grown). But since this thing aint real, and is PURELY concept I forgive it.

If it does have a harddrive with every NES game ever made on it and it also had them all looking & sounding wonderful in 1080p surround sound(maybe some could be remade, to look as good as possible while keeping the gameplay the same), it would be the greatest machine ever made.

I bet if Nintendo made a special Wii that came packed with a few virtual console games (kinda like that arcade version of the 360) and it looked as awesome as that, people would really want it.
