In an interview with MTV.com, Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime offers up some interesting tidbits about the near (and not so near) future of the Wii console. Highlights include:
On online play: Fils-Aime repeats once again (much to the dismay of many) that the first online Wii title will be Pokémon Battle Revolution … in Japan. He pegs “very early 2007” as when the company will be on board with online play in other regions. On Super Mario Galaxy: How does “any time between the end of March and next Christmas” sound to you? On Goldeneye coming to the Virtual Console: He doesn’t rule it out, but cites “a lot of issues” as the reason it hasn’t been confirmed. Keep holding your breath, though, as Nintendo is currently “exploring all the rights issues.” On breaking your television with the Wii remote: Fils-Aimes suggests you wipe your sweaty hands, and uh, don’t let go of the remote while playing.
