By claiming it will be difficult to match last year's Wii performance, Fils-Aime basically tells us how brilliantly the system has sold. He looks humble, but he's just shown off. "The third year in a generation is typically the strongest and Nintendo is in its fourth with Wii," claims the minestrone flavored Nintendo boss. "Last year was a record year for the Wii hardware business so it's going to be really tough for us to lap those numbers but we're having a great holiday season so far."
Reggie said this as part of a beefy TV interview that you can watch above. It's worth watching for the cluelessness of the FOX News bint who clearly doesn't understand what she's talking about.

So new Wii HD in 2010 then? I resisted buying a Wii before Christmas because I speculate that Nintendo would release the Wii's next iteration next year. This interview pretty much confirms for me that this will not happen since Nintendo would sell a ton of hardware if they released a new version of the Wii.

If the rumors of AMD, and iNvidia battling to get the contract for the processor in Nintendo's next console are true, than I wouldn't expect a new system from Nintendo until at least holiday 2011. Because for one the Fusion processor won't even be out in the market until some time in 2011, so if its what's in Nintendo's HD system, than it will have to come out after, or around the same time as it hits the PC market. Either way the Wii has only been out for three full year now and it still selling like crazy, so why would Nintendo kill their own success so soon in 2010, when they don't have to?

I was thinking that there would be a new Nintendo Wii in 2010 to compete against Microsoft's Natal and PS3's motion controller. Nintendo did this with the Nintendo DS - instead of releasing a completely new system they just added new features to an already existing platform. I was really contemplating buying a Wii, but I fear I've waited too late to buy one. I would hate to buy one today only for Nintendo to release a new version of it a year from now. Wow, I've seen clueless before, but those idiots didn't seem to understand the very concept of videogames. Seriously, he was asking if they do anything related to gambling, just because that's what he thinks when he hears the word "gaming" and he assumed it must be the same thing.

In case you guys on the board don't get it the interest of the Fox Business channel is to tell potential investors about what nintendo is up to. The gambling question was from the perspective of someone thinking of investing in a gambling company is light of congress planning to deregulate online gambline. He was asking if Nintendo does this and as Reggie said Nintendo Japan does some gambling as part of its product line but Nintendo US does not. I guess it sounds really dumb to whiny nerds who are too unobservant to know what channel they are watching and looking for any excuse to bitch at the name Fox.
