Reggie is hyped about E3, but can we ever trust him again? photo

To say that Nintendo was tight-lipped at GDC about games coming out after the first quarter this year is about as much of an understatement as saying their press conference at last year's E3 was only somewhat of a let down. They wouldn't budge an inch on anything except Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and all we got of that was a trailer. Plenty of people tried to ply information out of Reggie, but nothing much came of it except for a quote from X-Play, where he says that E3 is going to be exciting.

"What I can tell you is, it's coming. That's what E3 is for. We'll be showcasing the back-half of the marketing calender and all of the content that we'll be launching at that point. What I can tell you is be there. We'll have some great content to share," he said, most likely while giving an arrogant smile.

Can we really trust this man and his opinion on what constitutes a good E3 show anymore? After last year's cavalcade of casual and Reggie's claim that it was all for the hardcore, I find it hard to put my faith in him. Still, other than Mario & Luigi RPG 3 and Sin and Punishment 2, we know very little about what Nintendo has in store for us down the road. Hopefully they learned their lessons last year and this year will be huge.

I think they'll just announce their newest Zelda, Pikmin, and F-Zero and assume that everythings allright. Will we see a new IP (that actually lives up to the quality of Nintendo of olde)? I frickin doubt it...

I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed their Zelda announcement all this time, just so that wouldn't loose face during this years E3, like they did last year.

IT'S RAVI!!!!! One of the better internet memes of last year! Here's hoping Nintendo does NOT dissappoint us this year and once again provides us with a meme that is actually funny.

*fingers crossed* ;)

I think that we can "trust" him on whether Nintendo will have a good show, but we have to realize it won't be our standard of good. Will it be good for showcasing games that will sell millions of copies to moms and the like? Of course. Will it be good for showing a game that will make me look to my Wii before my 360 for games? Almost assuredly not.

Why does any gamer care about Nintendo at all? They've completely abandoned the gamer market and now just pursues the soccer mom market.

I was just at Target. The Xbox 360 and PS3 shelf space COMBINED is equal to the Wii games shelf space. Add in the crappy accessories and it's even more lopsided. Nintendo hasn't just stopped servicing the gamer market, now they are hurting it.

Used to love Reggie, but not so much anymore due to his arrogant tendency to completely dodge relevant questions in favor of Nintendo-can-do-no-wrong bullshit hype. I'll probably still get the DSi though.

Maybe because if you actually know how to look for good games, you'll find them, even on the Wii. Simple.

If Reggie is "hyped" about E3, seems like the announcements are not going to be much interest to me unless something comes out way out of left field.

can't wait for some awesome DS game to get revealed and the internet gets all excited/loves nintendo again. And I'm sitting her looking at my non-DS wii and looking sad. Oh wait that was GDC.

I honestly have no faith in the wii and nintendo. Its obvious that I as a consumer am not in their minds so I'll let them worry about their wii. I bought it and it forced me to leave it to collect dust.

The lack of any huge Nintendo titles lately makes me believe they'll have something worth showing this year. Hopefully they've done something since last E3 other than sit around counting their money.

I want to believe.

You mean, how can we trust them after they made up for E3 by having an amazing TGS where they unveiled Sin & Punishment 2 and Punch-Out!! among other things? And then the GDC where no one thought they'd unveil anything and instead we got news of a new Zelda and a look at the unbelievably awesome Excitebots?

Pretty easily I think.

Wii Music makes me think Miyamoto is going senile.

His leaving/death will be the second best thing to ever happen to Nintendo, right behind hiring him in the first place.

When your company is making ludicrously insane amount of money, you tend to not give a crap what people think of you or your products. Yes, the Wii Music E3 presentation was less than stellar if not crappy, but it was damn funny! I mean look how many gifs have that pigmentally challenged drummer dude with the wii-mote! My prediction is whatever they're going to show in the next E3 WILL sell millions. For better or for worse, hell maybe it'll be a game "hardcore gamers" will like!

Yes, there are one or two good games. I have a wii for them. But the fact of the matter is that Nintendo doesn't care about gamers. So why should gamers care about Nintendo? All they do is take shelf space away from good games.

Don't argue with Pedro, I'm pretty sure Nintendo has him on retainer.

And I'm looking forward to Nintendo's E3, I wanna see all shit they shovel for the "core" gamer and I want to see the fanboys defend them(seeing as Wii fanboys are eternal optimists).

Oh yes, it shall be glorious.

Pretty easy, when the best title on the current system is a rerelease of a PS2 game.
