The French site LiveWii brings word that UbiSoft has announced that they are making Red Steel 2. According to the article, they're justifying making the second game by saying that they're completely reworking the sword system. There's no announcement yet as to whether or not the game will support online play or anything, but there should be more details rolling out soon.
I believe I'm the staff member who has played the most of Red Steel (~70% of the game), I actually do want to see how much of an overhaul they can give this game, and possibly turn it into something worthwhile. They really need to take their time and pull out all the stops on this, otherwise UbiSoft will be losing tons of fans for wasting money on this. Apart from the sword system, which can get mind-numbingly boring, they need to make sure the horrible rubber-arm graphics and still-shot cutscenes are done with.
So, with this little information available, who wants to start making predictions on the game's score? Oh, and sorry Necros, you will have to endure me playing this game next year, and forcing you to watch.
[Thanks for the tips, Blindside and Joe! You were within seconds of each other for this]
One more thing they better get the same people who did the music from the last one too..

Also, a new design for the menus would be cool. Something that doesn't involve dragging small, blurry neon signs to bigger blurry neon signs.
But maybe i got the huge ass Nyko sensor bar it really deos pick up the singal from 30 Ft
Sadly, the few things Ubisoft did right couldn't outweigh the many bugs, lacking graphics, and a aiming system that makes you want to perform Seppuku... aka fall on that sword you carry everywhere just in case someone decides guns are just too easy and needs a sword fight.
I mean really, how could not one person who produced or played the game before release notice that every time the game loaded something when playing the cursor jumped around like it was possessed.
That said, there was A LOT of potential in Red Steel, and it was a release title, surely rushed to meet the date. I think with a reasonable schedule, a decent team, and a somewhat decent engine to build off of, it could actually be a killer title if done right....
but it won't be done right, it'll be another flop cause they won't change enough and will try to cash in on the "sequel" aspect... Guessing 6/10
It definitely could've used about 3 or 4 months of polish, and the MP should've been re-worked (perhaps a co-op mode?), but overall, I think the game is quite good.
It's not $60 good. But if I found it for say, $30, I'd seriously consider picking it up.
I just hope that Ubi remembers what they did wrong w/ Red Steel, and that they correct that w/ Red Steel 2 and finally give us the FPS that we deserve.
also so many people try and play the game always doing the slow aiming no matter where they are, if you play it normal and only do the slow aiming when you are shooting and let go to switch to another guy the game works fairly well.
updated their news saying that ubisoft called them saying it wasn't true.
Sorry for bad english skills
predicted score? 7.5 mediocre.
DMV, I'm open to enjoying this sequel, provided they fix, oh, everything from the first game. Remember, I wanted to like it, and actually bought a copy (kept in shrinkwrap) prior to review scores, so if they fulfill what they originally promised in the first game, I'd be all in.
Oh, and no more rubber arm.
