Oh dear. It looks like Microsoft may have to come to terms with the fact that the famed Red Ring of Death is still happening, despite their assurances that this problem is on its way out. The video above shows one of the demo 360s on the GDC show floor with the red ring, which I can't help but giggle a little at. Of course, I've never had the RROD myself, which is why I can find amusement in this discovery instead of punching my monitor in rage. I have to admit that is what I would have done had I suffered the legendary 360 curse.

i'm pretty sure that over 90% of us 360 owners have had at least 0ne 360 red ring on them,luckly i was able to fix mine myself,it red ringed on me about 3 months ago (this is a near launch one)it's been working perfect since i fixed it.this is the first and only 360 i've owned and if it bricks on me and i can't fix it myself i won't be buying another....btw my warrenty was voided after doing a few mods so i had no choice but to fix it myself.

@AgentMOO

Though I agree with you that DRM is absurd, your statement isn't exactly true.
The PS3 allows for seamless license transfers up to 5 times without hassle. Seeing as how there's no huge failure rate and there's no need to upgrade - that's a great policy. And though I'm not sure what the Wii's stance is exactly, I have read that it's similar to the PS3's, not the 360's.

I have found a solution....

From now on Microsoft will no longer put red lights in their products.

Solved.

@Hells_66
I'm not talking about the RRoD problem in general. Just this particular instance. So save the pugnacious remarks.

I've seen PS3's crap out in their protective bubble at retail stores as well. So what I'm getting at is that while the irony is there I think people need resist the urge to exacerbate it when there's an obvious reason it happened.

Just got my 3rd 360 back from Microsoft Purgatory. I'm hoping this one lasts longer than the three months my last refurb lasted before offing itself. It would be nice if they could figure out this problem instead of just shuffling another soon to be dead 360 out the door.

I knocked my friends Xbox over and it gave us the red ring of death... That was a sad day.

Oh my gawd! This obviously means no one should ever buy a 360 ever again!

I snapped a pic of the RRoD at my local Best Buy. I'm sure it happens all the time but what can you do except laugh. By now, anyone buying a 360 knows exactly what they are getting into. I would love a 360 (Left 4 Dead? DO WANT) but I console myself by reading stuff like this since I can't afford another console right this moment.

Microsoft has solved the RROD for the next 360 redesign... The indicator is now square.

the ps3 also has some problems,the first one i got kept on freezing,took that one back and the second one wouldn't even let me onto the startup page,it just kept shutting off for no reason.i got a third one and this one works just fine,i think the first one had a faulty fan.i'm lucky i got it from Futureshop cause they exchanged them with no hassle.so just don't be surprised when some ps3's start bricking on people.
