Red Faction: Guerrilla PC gets a release date, system specs photo

I'm not entirely sure how this flew under everyone's radar, but timestamps don't lie. On Monday of this week, Volition gave an update on the state of Red Faction: Guerrilla for PC, and things are looking up.

First, the release date: September 15 for the United States and September 11 for everywhere else. Since digital distribution differs from region to region and not all of the deals are finalized just yet, the company is remaining quiet on which services we'll see Red Faction appear on.

As for the system requirements:

Minimum:

  • Windows XP / Vista
  • 2.0 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
  • 1 GB RAM / 15 GB of Hard Drive space
  • 128 MB 3D Video Card w/ Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon X1300)

Recommended:

  • Windows Vista® for DirectX® 10
  • 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
  • 2 GB RAM / 15 GB of Hard Drive space
  • 256 MB 3D Video Card w/Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 8800/ATI Radeon HD3850)
Volition also notes that if you want to play the game's multiplayer -- trust me, you do -- you're going to need to meet the recommended specifications for the best possible user experience.

Eh, sounds a lot harsher than it is, considering I can run this on Recommended.

I guess the destruction capabilities have got to make some impact on performance after all.

surprised at how high the CPU requirement is. in the UK you'd have to spend around £150 to get a 3.2Ghz dual core cpu which is almost as much as a 360 costs (although obviously most people would rather spend a third of that and overclock).

It's not that high if you think about. Real-time destruction, on a level not really done before takes quite a bit of CPU power to do. I also imagine that higher quality levels will have more advanced physics than what the 360 and such has (while the lower end will probably be more simplified than the 360 version).

Atleast that's what tends to happen with ports. I just hope they do a PC demo. Without a demo there is 0% chance I'll bother to get this.

It's just as weel I I have no desire to play the MP part of this version. I just want to be able to build really awesome stuff and then spend some time destroying it (even if it means me looking up architecture)

Why are games so fucking huge now? I'm running out of HDD space and might have to give up my dream of film making to make room for these bad boys.

I think I need to upgrade my motherboard. Is it hard?

Shirley temple, that's because HDD space is dirt cheap now. 500GB for $70?

Also, the fact that this doesn't seem to require Physx makes me happy.

Good to hear a secure date, It's still quite a wait though.
I've could just get Guerrilla for my 360 or PS3, but I'd rather have the destructive action right up into my face, and my high-end PC is up for the job.

Damn that's some super low minimums considering everything going on in the game. Probably wouldn't run it to well though. Not hugely excited if there won't be any mapping tools for PC anyways, seems like sort of a huge waste.
