Red Faction: Guerrilla and Darksiders delayed by THQ (Update) photo

Today THQ announced that Volition’s shooter Red Faction: Guerrilla and Vigil’s brawler Darksiders: Wrath of War have been delayed until the next financial year. This means neither of these titles may see the light of day until 2010.

Darksiders certainly has an interesting premise. The game will put players in the role of War, one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. Instead of delivering the human soul to the underworld, the game will allow players to fight wicked huge monsters with overgrown swords and high-powered ballistics. The video that we snagged at E3 should give you a better indication of what Vigil is shooting for.

As for Red Faction, we’ve always seen it as a nearly complete and promising title. My guess is that the holdup has something to do with money. I know -- that’s a radical statement. But I’m a maverick and I say mavericky things.

Update: GameCyte is reporting that Red Faction will only be delayed by 8-10 weeks, which means it will land somewhere around March and June 2009.

I've never had a problem with game delays, especially right now with the deluge of good stuff coming in. With any luck, Volition takes the extra time to add more polished goodness, as I'm really looking forward to Guerrilla.

Hate to double post, but just noticed that you biffed the spelling on Guerrilla.

Red Faction could use the delay.

Red Faction needs no delays.

I want to rebuild what others destroy!

@Grim

Hah, I knew that's what that Volition Inc. shit meant. Glad it scores in the positive.

I thought Red Faction was already great based on what I played. Mind you what I played was one round where I ignored other players and just tried to destroy buildings.

OH SHIT

I just got the best idea ever. They should scrap the shooter bullshit and use that engine to make BLAST CORPS 2.

Personally, I am looking forward to the communist edutainment game: Red Fraction.

They can delay RF all they want, it doesn't change the fact both prequels were aborted foetuses; since they're continuing to hammer home the OMGS EXPLODING HOLES ROCK TUNNELS RAAAAAR!!, I'm not to convinced this will be any good either.

Damn. Both of these titles looked promising. I didn't have a shot to play RF but I heard decent things.

Darksiders is one of my most anticipated titles of next year. Anything that tries to make a God of War style game but with open world elements and a style as slick as Darksiders has clearly deserves some attention from me (as well as the community as a whole).
