After watching Game Informer's recent documentary about Volition, I was all jazzed up about Descent. Descent! What more needs to be said? These feelings quickly changed into those of sadness, but all is well.
GameTrailers has put up a new walkthrough-style video of Red Faction: Armageddon. Level designer Jameson Durall narrates -- his first words are "So we have something a little special for all the Descent fans out there ..." We then learn that, hey, Red Faction's tech is a pretty nice match for that type of game.
Bring back the series after Armageddon ships? Please?
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

I know Jameson Durall said this was a salut to Descent but the straight forward and linear level design and lurching movement of the flyer in the video seems more like a salut to the Flyer levels in Red Faction 1 than Descent.
'nuff said.
I'd kill to have a modern Descent game--Freespace was really nothing more of a Wing Commander clone. It was and is still one of my favorite FPS games. Keep the controls complex though, no simplifying them. I kept my SideWinder 3D Pro through the years just for a new Descent game.

I remember many frantic escape runs with me and my friends trying to remember which way was out. Good times! Classic PS1 games like Descent and Warhawk really blew me away at the time, many sleepless summer nights were spent playing those beloved games.
those are the one i remember. never played the volition version.
