Red Faction: Armageddon reveal tomorrow on GameTrailers photo

The next Red Faction game is set to be revealed tomorrow, and it's been confirmed as Red Faction: Armageddon.

Word comes from a promo spot for the next episode of GameTrailers TV, which will air the world premiere trailer for Volition's upcoming title; the show airs tomorrow night on Spike TV. THQ recently snatched up a handful of Armageddon-related domains, leading some to speculate the publisher would be revealing the title at E3. They were right.

Papers I have signed are forcing me to say that "not much is known about Red Faction: Armageddon right now." But THQ's VP of Core Games Danny Bilson has been shooting his mouth off about it for awhile. In March, Bilson told Joystiq that the title "goes back to the old Red Faction because about 80% of it is underground"; he also said the title was slated for a March 2011 release.

So there you have it -- trailer tomorrow. As I'm sure I'll be writing a lot over the next few weeks, expect to hear and see even more at E3

I know a lot of peeps really enjoyed it, but I didn't dig on that last Red Faction that much. It was a solid game, but it didn't grab me. To be fair I didn't put a lot of time into it. I'd be down to check out a sequel though.

I'm in the same boat. I liked guerilla, but it never really hooked me. Great rent but not a buy.

I'll still check this out though. Destruction is always a win.

Ugh. 80% inderground makes me nervous.

I loved Guerrila. It was my favorite RF by far and it looks like they want to change that.

But I liked the game so much I'll give them the benifit of the doubt. But exploring mars was fun. Either way it needs mire walkers. I loved those things and they were barely featured.

So, its not really a sequel to Guerilla? That makes me sad.
Well, we shall see tomorrow.

Red Faction: Guerrilla was my sleeper hit of 2009. I hope this is just as good.

I enjoyed Guerrilla but it didn't blow me away. I liked the fact that you could blow up just about everything but the combat/guns lacked bite; it just felt wimpy.

I'll probably rent this one first

Hahahahaha @ Professor Pew

Also, this sounds awesome. RFG was a great game, and if they can expand on what made it fun in the sequel, that is win for me!

Wait, why is everyone worried about it taking place underground? Have none of you actually ever PLAYED the original Red Faction? The series' roots begin underground and a lot of people (including myself) loved the terrain deformation and tunneling and secrets found all over the original game. If they can make another game that features awesome terrain deformation and enormous caverns that you could partially cave in, etc - then this may be an insta-buy for me.

The original Red Faction was an okay shooter that ripped off Half-Life. The only reason it had any resonance was because console shooters had never done anything like that before.

Guerrilla was definitely the way the series needed to go. I'm looking forward to a sequel that can continue the carnage and open world style that the previous entry did and not return to the series' tired and rehashed roots.

Unless underground is equal to vast, awe-inspiring underground cities, I'm not interested. The series may have started underground, but that doesn't mean that it needs to go back there.

I assume that means we'll be seeing the geomod work on the terrain again now. Sounds good to me, if this means EVERYTHING will be destructible now.
