Red Dead Redemption gets weapons, maps, zombie mode photo

Rockstar has announced today that it will be supporting Red Dead Redemption with some serious business downloadable content in the coming months.

Starting this August, the "Legends and Killers" pack will hit Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The pack features nine new multiplayer maps, eight new multiplayer characters, and a new projectile weapon called "The Tomahawk." The massive DLC rush ends this fall, with the $9.99/800 MS Point "Undead Nightmare" pack, a single-player adventure where "ghost towns and cemeteries come alive in a West gone horribly wrong"; the pack will also feature eight new multiplayer zombie characters.

Believe it or not, there's even more DLC hitting in between those two packs. It's a lot of info, so hit the jump for the full copy paste, straight from Rockstar itself.

Kinda wish i hadn't bought RDR at launch, as I'm kinda done with it now, considering trading.

I'm torn between keeping it for the DLC and just cutting my losses and trading it in.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Wish I was like just buying it now and had this stuff launch while i was still interested in it.

With beefed up multiplayer coming along, I'm now considering getting the PS3 version rather than the 360 version. How's the connectivity for this game on PS3, any worse than XBL? Will the DLC be identical?

That is how I want my DLC. Stuff that adds to the game after it can stand on its own two legs, not stuff that could have been in there but was kept out for the sake of selling it to me later.

SexualChocolate - yeah, I'm considering buying at the first pricedrop, but now I'm thinking I might hold out for the inevitable Game of the Year edition.

Also, love the new avatar - is that the Chocolate Lynx advert from a year or so back?

One more thing. How hard would it be to get rid of the cheaters? You know these guysthat were 5th legendary 2 days after the game came out. The guys that ONLY get head shots on expert aim and end the match 50-0. Come on R*. Weed out the bad seeds

The Legends pack looks pretty cool, but the "anti-griefing measures" got me worried, griefing is half the fun is half the fun on free roam.

I am excited, perhaps a bit too excited. I'll have to rebuy the game, but given the time it'll take for all of the DLC to come out it'll be new to me all over again.
The White Light's Avatar - Comment posted on 07/08/2010 11:41
The White Light
The last one looks really interesting to me. The others I'm just not sure how well they will work as you'll only be able to play with other people who have bought it. It's easier when there's only 1 update to buy, but when it looks like there will be $30 worth of updates spread out over 3 updates, I feel like the number of players with any given one of them will be seriously diluted.

If they packed all of this together for $20, I would be very interested. As it stands, it looks like it all adds up to about $40 for less content than was ever provided in either of the $20 GTA expansions.

What white light said too. The dlc for gta ruined the mulitplayer cuz it split up the community. Hopefully the freeroam stuff will be added as a patch and the other multi stuff is added to the playlist like the co-op pack

Free-roam metagame stuff and card games in multi? Rad.

Zombies.
Fuck yes.

Thank you, R*. Now please finish Max Payne 3.

@Sexualchocolate Thanks for the info. I was initially going to get the 360 version since I'd written off the multiplayer, but I'll take a minor graphical downgrade in the PS3 version if the DLC is worth it. I'd rather not have to pay for XBL Gold if I don't have to.

im curious how the multiplayer "maps" will work. also i was hoping there would be a tomahawk in this game. needs more melee weapons.

also new animals sounds cool. oh and zombie cougars, jesus christ nothing will stop them!

@Ninja Cameraman West-Dickens would be a walking target. I hate that guy. I know I'd shoot past people, even if it ment putting myself at risk, just to hit that guy in the junk.

@Wayne T23 ?...... I'm hoping for more. I haven't laughed so hard in a while directly at a game. None of the glitches have been seriously gamebreaking for me though. It's like a new genre, open world comedy.

Well, I was hoping the zombies DLC was a joke poking fun at the tired zombie cliche' that the videogame industry can't get enough of giving us... but...

it really is just more goddamn zombies.

more goddamn zombies.

Example of company SUPPORT: Blizzard still patching diablo2 after 10+years FOR FUKKEN FREE
Another example: Valve with TF2 updates after 3++ years, FOR FUKKEN FREE

DLC that you pay for, 10 bucks, DOES NOT QUALIFY AS SUPPORT, stop that shit. It is a cash in, prolly with assets already on disk you paid for before, and even if they are not on the disk, you still pay and it still does not qualify as SUPPORTING your game.

Still patching a game 10 years later? You'd think they'd have it figured out by now. Just saying.
RDR is an awesome game and I don't mind paying a little extra ($10 is not bad for the quality and content that R* puts out) for the added replay value. Shit I'd love it if they kept adding stuff till the next GTA comes out.

And to those talking about glitchy problems and what not. I haven't seen anything weird in a while now. The co-op pack was a little goofy the first couple days but works fine now. The only issue I've noticed is I still get stuck in the loading screen once in a while.

Only good one is the last one, the rest are filled with multiplayer only crap, and 800 MSP is a huge rip-off for just one weapon and a few challenges involving it added into singleplayer... For shame Rockstar, for shame. I thought they were different after the awesomeness that was Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony.
