Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

What do we do every week, Pinky? Record Podtoid as a means to take over the world! Episode 8 was just loaded to www.podtoid.com, a special Thanksgiving episode where we discuss the Wii and newcomer Aaron Linde plays devil's advocate as the spirit of Kevin Cassidy against Robert Summa as we discuss the our Thanksgiving Wiikend (or Elksgiving, depending on where you live) Judging by our today's lineup of stories, I think the timing is perfect!  Also joining us on the show is Faith, Nex and questions submitted by Lord Satorius, Grim, Gregor, and Wintermute.  Other questions not addressed on the show were posted in the comments below.

Podtoid is now available on iTunes but it may take a few minutes for Episode 8 to appear there. You can now easily subscribe though and steal our mp3s while you sleep. Enjoy!

Any non-Wii questions would be awesome as well.

BTW, I posted this in Niero's Elebits post, but I got sent a buttload of Wii games today, so expect some "First 10 minutes" videos, probably as early as Friday.

Just thought of a really good one that a lot of people will want to probably hear:

Should Destructoid become more popular and what good/bad will come from it?

Niero: maybe mention the Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! thing. I don't know if you've come up with questions yet... but maybe get the other editors to think some up (if they don't want to go for the game themselves).

Okay, no Wii questions:

1. Will my PS3 or 360 be in my closet next year?

2. Where will Sony and Microsoft end up in the greater scheme?

hey guys, I am glad to see dtoid growing and in addition to the question Grim brought up I was wondering what your feelings on the way joystiq has been heading... everyone is starting to get fed up with joystiqs flamebait posts and lack of content, I don't even read it regularly at all since you left summa you were the one blogger I enjoyed there (don't get me started on Vlad >:|). One of the things i love about dtoid is that besides linking to all the cool stuff gaming blogs link to, you also have great well written original content. Keep up the great works guys/gal :-)

Do you think original XBox was just a way to get MS in to the market and build a brand name? Did they ever care about making it a viable console on its own or was it just a staging platform for Live and a build up for a strong second console?

Do you feel like this is being repeated with the Zune? ie. a rushed first model with bare-bones features to establish a rep. so that when Zune 2.0 is out they will have some foot-hold and a comparison to make, to show what advances they have made.

What does this say about MS? Smart moves, or a raw deal for those who bought original Xboxes and who may buy the first Zune?

2. "Is cost per download 'premium content' where all the real content will end up in games?"

3. "Will the Wii be able to contend with its 'competitors' for the next five years (ten if you believe Sony)?"

4. "Exactly how many sequels is 'Gears of War' going to get?"

Like any other site we're going to either address our growing pains well or cap our growth and be forever doomed to mediocrity. We have a lot of smart people on the team so unless somebody gets hit by a truck you're gonna like what's coming up. Right now Dtoid is only at 10% of my vision!!! ;)

I've got a question: what do you guys think about MMO's? And are these next-gen consoles good enough to maybe see some good ones in the next couple of years? I ask because I've been on the fence with the whole MMO thing ( mostly because I run linux ), and would like to hear some other opinions.

I just recently read about the advent of "RPU's" or Ray Processing Units being able to create amazingly photorealistic graphic images in a much shorter amount of time than currently used rasterization techniques for interactive media such as video games. Do you know whether the PS3 will in the future incorporate this kind of processor or, since it is still a ways away, do we have to wait for the next generation...PS4? Do you know anything about the PS4? Are MS and Sony and perhaps Nintendo already thinking ahead to whats over the horizon?

This question is for Niero. I caught the piece on Hajime no Ippo that was posted earlier. My question to you is, being an anime fan (I assume), how do you think anime based games will fair now with the next gen already well underway? With things like Hajime no Ippo and Bleach for the Wii coming out do you think developers will put forth any extra effort to improve the situation with anime based games? Because lets face it...anime we love it..but the majority of the games end up being mediocre. Keep up the good work guys!

Thanks everyone! We just wrapped up the show, a lot of the questions posted here were answered and it will be available on http://www.podtoid.com within the next few days. If you've never heard podtoid I strongly recommend episodes 2 and 6 in that order, as you'll get some good laughs from our screaming.

Today's episodes featured Summa as our host, myself, Faith, Nex, and Dtoid newcomer Aaron Linde who's been blogging for a bit now but this was his first podcast. We addressed rebelcan's MMO question, Wintermute's xbox sincerity question, various Wii questions including Gregors and the implementation of Mii codes (parental concerns, awkward input, wii code web sites), and Lord Satorius's question on smart PS3 shopping. Plus half an hour of yelling and fart jokes -- it's all in there.

For other questions not answered on the show:

Kurse318: I'm perpetually surprised by how assy anime games are despite the fact that some of the best video games in the world come from the land of anime. I think developers are starting to catch on to that and are trying different things, as evidenced with what Altus is doing and the ones you noted. Generally speaking I don't know why publishers have historically treated anime games as kind of kiddy games -- I've got some grey hair and would drop bills for a solid video game interpretation of Ninja Spirit, Battle Angel, an epic role playing franchise of Fuushigi Yuugi, etc. I'm dating myself here.

Bleep -- due to Sony's speculation that the PS3 will have a lifespan of 10 years, I believe we'll see that kind of tech in PC's gaming first. This seems to be the ebb and flow of gaming. Think back to the PS2: first it was ahead, then PCI Express / quad SLI happened and you couldn't get PS2 games to look as good as what Nvidia could push on the desktop. Now the PS3 is ahead. Prepare to post your liver on the black market or start saving for it. :)

Azgard - we make a couple of dollars on every sale, which are given to the artists who created the artwork. Destructoid only makes money on apparel that has our logo in it, which goes back into the community for prizes, pay for the writers, and hosting. None of the owners make any money off the site, it's just a labor of love. That's why I'm up at 2am typing this! I love the community we've built, it's crazy.

ian_esq - I only listen to Stan Bush! Just kidding. My favorite album of the moment is Cafezino Afternoons which you'll hear in a lot of my driving videos. It's a killer lounge cd, best $20 I spent on music this year.

Backflip - They've got enough warnings on everything, they've covered their asses.

Grim - The internet is a series of tubes. I'm out!

Niero, thanks for taking my question. Yes, you pronounced my name correctly. I'm glad you guys like my avatar, but it's not from Voltron (what was the other guess? "Final Fantasy" something or another?). It's Colonel Char Aznable from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack". Still, a character from an anime mecha show, so a pretty close guess.

On the PlayStation 3, yes, I can afford one and it wouldn't affect me financially. The reason I asked is because I've been looking around everywhere for one and I don't exactly know why. None of the launch games appeal to me, and since I never owned a PlayStation or PS2, I have no backwards compatible games to play on it either. I'm sure I will eventually want a PlayStation 3 to play exclusive games on, but I'm not sure I should be trying too hard to get one _now_, other than to be one of the lucky few. My Xbox 360 has enough going for it that it will keep me busy for a while, and when I get my hands on a Wii I'm sure I'll have fun with it. But the PS3, if I had to buy one, I think it would sit in the box until I had a few games to play. Being able to watch Blu-Ray movies on my HDTV isn't enough of a draw right now.
