Rebellion could be working on new Judge Dredd title photo

In a recent interview with bit-tech.net, Rebellion's Head of Art and Design Tim Jones hinted strongly at the possibility of a new Judd Dredd videogame.

"Well, there is the announcement that went out recently about a new Judge Dredd flim in the works," he said, referring to what's said to be a remake of the 1995 Sylvester Stallone picture, when questioned about a new game. Jones then does his best to not give anything away, but can't really seem to help himself.

"There's not a lot I can say about that right now, but the film is in development and... I can't really say anything about what we might be doing game-wise at the moment," he adds. "But... watch this space."

Okay, Jones, we get it -- you're working on a new Judge Dredd game. It's not a real stretch, considering Rebellion Developments not only makes videogames, but also publishes the Judge Dredd comic. The studio was responsible for 2003's Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube.

Here's hoping that the movie is good. Sucks that the comic is no longer published in the states after what happened with the last movie.

to the curious, their titles were 50% off on steam this weekend, may still be on sale. $3.99 for Dredd V Death on PC.

Really? Do they think there's big demand for a new Judge Dredd movie?

I like Judge Dredd...also there doesn't have to be demand for something. You can create demand, that what advertising is for.

There seems to be a lot of remakes going on now of days, I guess to try and make them better?
But I really don't another Judge Dread is in high demand, probably trying to bring back a dead series.

I love Judge Dredd, it'd be great to have a new movie that "gets it right". As for a game, why not try it as a third person shooter, with hand to hand combat elements. The old xbox/ps2 game just didn't click for me as a FPS.
