Receiver, a first-person shooter with mechanics grounded in reality, is finally available on Steam for super cheap. You can temporarily pick it up for $3.99, 20% off its original price of $4.99. If you already own Receiver through purchase or pre-ordering Overgrowth, then you should have a key waiting for you on the Humble Bundle site.

Wolfire Games is absolutely brimming with talent, and Receiver is a strong example of some of the fantastic gameplay ideas they have. I love that it's a single idea extrapolated into a complete project that doesn't feel overbearing. They just had a cool idea, made a game in a week, and released it unto us plebs. Oh, and there's a super interesting postmortem of the game on their blog, which reveals a lot about Greenlight and how Receiver almost didn't end up on Steam at all.

Review: Receiver

Realism in videogames is a tricky thing, especially when it comes to first-person shooters. Sure, regenerating health makes no sense, but it's still a pretty decent and cherished game mechanic when used properly. In fact, whe...more

It's been a small journey reviewing Destiny, but now I've experienced every facet of the game and I'm ready to make my decision. As mentioned previously, the story and setting leave a lot to be desired, but the gunplay is ver...more

Review: Size DOES Matter

Simple graphics, twitch gameplay, and fresh music constitute a good formula for mobile gaming. Titles like this allow for a quick bit of play during minutes of downtime, and can paradoxically keep players going for long perio...more
