Real life Punch-Out performed live

7:53 PM on 01.20.2007   |   Niero

Believe it -- a group of students took to the stage and acted out complete scenes from Nintendo's Punch-Out using a  variety of clever props, custome changes, and live synths. Words cannot describe how amazing this video is; you have to see it for yourself. They even have the Statue of Liberty going by on the bike scene. Genius. Mike Tyson actually saw this clip and posted a video response, which we also featured below.

You gotta love Mike,

Mike: "Are you talking out of turn?"
Female Reporter: "No I think we're all talking together"
Mike: "I normally don't do interviews with women unless I fornicate with them...so you shouldn't talk anymore...unless you wanna...you know"

My new idol...

Mike Tyson is infinitely entertaining. He boxes, he says crazy stuff, and he collects pigeons.

I fucking love Mike Tyson.

Here's the thing about Mike.

He KNOWS he's being paid to beat the shit out of people.

Period.

To pound them until they can't think straight, impose brain damage, turn their face into hamburger, and break and batter their bodies until a healthy, well-trained athlete can't even raise himself from the canvas.

He's ruthless, brutal, crude, and vicious.

That's boxing.

Mike Tyson rightfully despises the hypocrisy of people who are equally or more cruel and vulgar, but who attempt to portray boxing as a gentlemanly sport. Of course, the people who most try to portray it as classy and the sport of kings are not the people in the ring.

In the ring it's fucking war.

Tyson is not crazy.

He's more un-crazy than most.

And the people who get hard-ons over blood-sport videogames (Gears of War), adore the savagery of UFC, and giggle when Mike Tyson caves in some guy's face have some real goddamn nerve to criticize Tyson for using profanity.

My favorite part of the reinactment is when he struggles to get up after getting knocked down, I remember hammering on the a & b button trying to get up in the game. And as far as mike tyson, I knew he was crazy but Damn, that video shows how crazy he really is. I'm glad he is out of the game, he hasn't done anything good for boxing since he was a young up and comer.

Tyson FTW.

I met him at LAX once, he actually took the time to shake my hand and say a few words.

@ lezbro:

"Tyson is not crazy. He's more un-crazy than most."

Dude, have you been punched by him, because those are the words of a mentalist. The guy's a cunt, simple as - it is possible to be a pugilist and not be a worthless human being. Just look at George Foreman - grilling his way to sainthood.

"He's ruthless, brutal, crude, and vicious.

I agree with all the parts except crude. Most legendary boxers weren't crude at all. Theres two types of boxers. The kind who are so powerful, they just take punches, and throw insanely devastating blows. Thats Mikey. The kind of guy who is so strong, even with your guard up it rocks your brain pan. They usually do well, but don't have long careers because of the punishment they absorb, even if they win a lot and get the title.

Not that boxers have long careers in the first place. If you don't rank on the world circuit by your mid-twenties, you're usually washed up, although this isn't a universal truth.

Then theres the strategists. They're cold, calculated killers. They manipulate the person to fight on their terms, then lay in a few lethal blows when they have the other fighter suckered into acting exactly how they want them.

It takes an extremely good eye, and more importantly, an extra sense to be able to see exactly how the great boxers can manipulate a person into doing exactly what they need them to do so they fall into their plans.

It takes an even better sense to actually be able to pull off that kind of thinking and planning when someone is trying to take your head off your shoulders.
