Gamers who purchase Dragon's Dogma for either Xbox 360 or PS3 will gain access to a demo code for Resident Evil 6. However, the Xbox 360 version of the game promises access a full two months ahead of the PS3 one. Capcom said the move was a business decision.
Capcom didn't have much else to say on the matter. It simple called it, "a strategic business decision" and left it at that.
The demo is available on July 3 via Xbox Live and September 4 via PlayStation Network. While timed exclusives are common for downloadable content, we don't often see it with demos. In any case, we can safely assume that Dragon's Dogma will sell a lot more 360 copies now. I doubt many Resi fans will want to wait.
I know I certainly don't.

Microsoft pay for it
Step it up, Microsoft.
Also, I have an Xbox, not a PS3, so that helps. Doubt I'll buy Dragon's Dogma, though.
Or maybe Sony's money is simply running out after 4 years in the red and 3 billion in losses this year alone.
They need to realise their demo is like their fucking ADVERT not a product they can make fucking money off of (from MS, not us).
Capcom can suck my balls for selling it.
Microshaft can suck my balls for buying it.
I may well have plaed the demo and decided to buy it! But now, eh, i'll grab it later pre-owned.
know companies like Activision are money grabbing dicks, but I reckon Capcom have become genuinely stupid recently, and think the same of their consumers.
I don't know what to say. I love Capcom, but they have made some weird, dickish moves recently.
Unlike every other decision in the industry, which involves dice rolls, voodoo, and a poorly organised lottery that involves writing numbers on tennis balls and putting them in a washing machine
Translation: Micro$oft dropped a bag of money on Capcom desk.
@Nobody I always think Jim has a badass goatee in his Meet the Team banana picture.
I just hope 360 gamers appreciate this gesture and don't take it for granted.
assuming Microsoft DID pay for this, just how desperate are they to have exclusive content these days? i can't think of a bigger waste of money.
"The only exclusive that's worth paying for is full exclusivity."
I'm not sure I agree with that. Microsoft understands the value of outselling their competitors in regards to multiplatform games, which is why they've seen success with the Call of Duty series when it comes to even just timed exclusivity for map packs.
Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox 360 have sold at least 2 million more copies than their respective PS3 versions. 2 to 3 million more sales than your competitor (that's 2 to 3 million users also potentially subscribing to Xbox Live, which is required to play online) is significant, and is worth paying for.
@Sexualchocolate
Sony has done timed exclusivity before as well, even for marquee titles. Except in their case, the 360 version still outsold the PS3 iteration, and paying for the timed exclusivity didn't really do them any good.
A demo is a tool you use to get people interested in your game ,why would you wait to do that? Especially when you game comes out during the end of the year rush period.
You just got paid to shoot yourself in the foot. If you think that's a good idea I'm leaving your ass to Darwin.
That'd be a smart BUSINESS move.
My thoughts exactly. DD looks like a healthy alternative to sleeping pills. The RE 6 demo *is* being released to the general public sometime in October, though, or so I hear.
Then I saw I'd have to pay 60 bucks for it.
Fucking really?
Wassat, Capcom? Zombies you say? Cool... This franchise is proving to possess the all the various qualities of the shambling undead, namely its ability to relentlessly gnaw away at our brains, while refusing to die no matter how many times you put a fucking bullet in its decrepit corpse. Is that metaphor too contrived? Well that too is a metaphor... METAPHORCEPTION!
That would be a plausible excuse 5 years ago.
Considering how much time they had to work with the machine and how many other impressive games were made quickly on the ps3 if they haven't figured this thing out by now it's time for them to gather up their IPs and give them to people who know what the hell they're doing and retire the company.
So I'm really hoping that isn't the case.
Sure it wasn't scary but RE4 sure wasn't either and every lauds that as a masterpiece.
Anyway 360 exclusivity makes sense. Sure system started on PS, then went to Nintendo, but RE5 sold more on 360 at the end of the day.
Now would it be smarter to just release them the same? Yes o course. But obviously capcom doesn't wanna do that.
Atmosphere is a huge part of these games. Sometimes when u change the atmosphere of something so drastically, you end up with Jason x. Or RE5. Just saying.
