The first bit of downloadable content for Capcom’s Resident Evil 5, ‘Versus Mode,’ is now available in North America. It is not available, however, in Germany. According to a Eurogamer.de report (via VG247), the content failed to get a content rating in the country, thus preventing its release.
The four-player oriented zombie busting DLC -- weighing in at a healthy 1.86 megabytes -- doesn’t have a different level of violence than the content already included on the disc, which makes this sort of funny: Resident Evil 5 was rated and released in Germany.
We’re not entirely sure if this is bureaucratic nonsense or a failing on Capcom’s part to show the DLC to the USK. (We contacted Capcom for comment.) Either way, this is pretty crappy for our German friends. From what I’m hearing, 'Versus Mode' rocks.

Yeah, I've got up this morning in anticipation for this and...

Seems the master race has inbred it's self to stupidity.
Uhm...the german version of RE5 is uncut and cross-country DLC usually works too, except when the games are so cut that they have different titles, for example Saints Row BRD.
I guess videogames are just too extreme for them. They should just stick to recording videos of them pooping on each others' chests.
But...did you say 1.86MB? For Versus mode? Something that supposedly couldn't make it into the final version of the game (even though the official strategy guide includes it)?

Sorry, but this one sounds like it's going to be fodder for the "you're paying to unlock something already on the disc" crowd.
I wonder what that 28mb "update" was that was needed day ONE.

Capcom are fast becoming as bad as Scamco Bandai. I would hope that people have more sense than to endorse this kind of BS but I'm sure it'll sell pretty well.
2.thats typical for germany, a game allready rated dont get the dlc! even for games like gears of war wich are never released in germany we dont get the new MAPS! Its so ridiclious!

Everyone buying this sends developers the wrong signals, your not just saying you will take It...but that you will do so with a smile...
How many will be surprised if one day you find yourself paying for an unlock patch for the second half of the storymode...
I'm just saying nobody paying for things like this should complain then, cause Its the future people shape here today...
Maybe I'm an idealist but i remember pc developers supporting games for years with new modes,maps and weapons and it was seen as good service...hell it still is...
Now a company like capcom claims to invest an extra month in developing an unlock patch and says they earned 5 euro's extra for it...
I'm putting my wallet in my pocket and say no...I know its just 5 euro's some might say but these things add up...
It is just Mercenaries with the ability to play 4 player now and kill each other. I fucking love Mercenaries mode and the fact that it now has versus in it seems sweeter. I know this is a rip-off but hey, at least it isn't like paying to unlock new outfits for characters! *Wink wink*

I think the update was for the new achievments and the new options at the game menu, such as now you have to pay to unlock characters in the bonus features.
Whats worse is people that call Capcom out on their bullshit and then still buy the DLC....pathetic.
Suckers have officially paid $64.98 for the full RE5 game.
of course people are still going to argue the paying on the disc thing. well the vs mode uses the maps and characters from the mercenaries mode. so of course its on the disc. the versus mode itself is not. thats what you're downloading.
I also don't see how my mocking of Germans makes me a retart? I don't actually believe they are OK with the Nazi Genocide. They are clearly still very aware and ashamed of it.
But any Country involved in past genocide where a high ranking official can compare games to kiddie porn deserves some mockery.
