RC car racing coming to PSN next week with Smash Cars photo

There's something about racing games with RC toy cars that is beyond appealing to me. Maybe it's the tracks -- they are often huge in proportion to the adorable little cars and tend to involve all sorts of ridiculous ramps, loops, and obstacles. Perfect material for a racing game, wouldn't you say?

Whatever the case may be, these racers have the potential to be pretty fun, and the PlayStation Network is even getting one next Thursday called Smash Cars. Besides the price, which is $14.99, everything you need to know about Smash Cars and more can be found in this handy video.

Awarding boost for pulling off daring acrobatic feats appears to be the big selling point, and while I'm sure it's been done before, I don't believe it's been done in a racing game with RC cars before. And hey, there's nothing wrong with that.

What ever happened to Mashed? Anyone ever play that game? Not RC cars, but kinda like Micro Machines except the BEST MULTIPLAYER IN THE WORLD!!! Oh for a live arcade version...

Nothing to say about Smash Cars though.

I loved MASHED!
Had it on Xbox and would always have mates round to play it =D

Smash Cars reminds me of ExciteTruck, I never got a chance to play ExciteTruck but it always looked a ton of fun.
Can't wait for Smash Cars... it will hark back to the good ol' days of playing fun games with my brothers =D

The Dreamcast had Re-Volt which was pretty good for an RC racing game. I don't think it was as enjoyable as MicroMachines on the NES was, but it sure was prettier. You're probably right that this is the first game to emphasize tricks in an RC racing game. Certainly not the first racing game to do so by any means. I guess there is a first for everything.

Will it have crappy six-axis controls?

Id rather have this than trials which I must say is surprisingly boring however my evaluation is only based on the demo so I may have missed something. If this is anything like RC Revenge I will be happy.

It indeed looks fun. I get a Motorstorm with flipping RCs vibe.

I've never heard of Mashed, but after learning it's developed by the dudes behind Circuit Breakers, I'd love to see it's return.

Woot! I've also just learn SuperSonic are working on a new game called Gas that is considered a spiritual successor to Mash. It's being released on PSN.
Good ol' Wikipedia.
