Pretty sure Michel Ancel had very little to do with Rayman 3... though that doesn't mean it's a bad game. Definitely planning to pick it up.

As someone who played the Gamecube version 9 months ago I'll have to unrecommended this game. The visuals are nice, but that's about all it has going for it. They tried to make this game edgy so instead of Rayman charm you get obnoxious painfully cringe inducing dialogue that tries too hard to be edgy and funny. Although I normally wouldn't mark a bad story against a game in a platformer this story actually made the game worse. A majority of the game is fighting through world to get help for globox who swallowed this black lum, but after you get there you're told they can't do anything so you have to fight your way through another world to be told the same thing. The way the set this up made the game feel like a chore. It's the whole your princess is in another castle thing.
A large portion of the game is spent shooting stuff which is not fun and had bad controls (hopefully they fixed the bad aiming with this port) The final boss fight is incredibly long, and very unfun.
The only part of this game that I found enjoyable was the part where you going to new worlds and to get there your riding these pink lines while disco plays. Though even those had their drawback they'd be too long sometimes. Overall I'd say pass unless you absolutely need more Rayman. The only redeeming quality this game has is some eye candy, and some sort of fun, but slightly irritating on rail sections.

I have to agree with you in some points. Being a fan of Rayman 2, I was pretty disappointed in this game. Still, I don't think it's THAT bad, though it might feel more dated than I remember. It's decent enough, but yeah, not everyone will enjoy it and the plot is basically non existent.

My main gripe with the game is the humor. The gameplay itself isn't awful, it's just not very compelling. Which is a shame because it was almost fun. This cutscene pretty much sums up why I don't like this game. They did the whole if you give hints at a character being a pothead it's suppose to be funny. To me the game is a decent platformer that had some great ideas, but is covered with some of the most annoying dialogue I've ever witnessed in a game. The musk of that awful writing was enough to overpower any enjoyment I got out of this game. The only reason I played it to the end was because it's Rayman. I'm happy the series is back on track now with Origins. To me this a chapter in the Rayman series that is better left forgotten.

Fuck it, I love Rayman 3. One of my favourite childhood games. The lovely visuals, the insane boss encounters (*cough* Razoff *cough*), the trippy music... it's a great game. I'm definately going to pick it up at some point. Hopefully it'll help fund a sequel to Origins.

Rayman 3 is awesome, but the english voice acting is not really good. If the option to play in french is still there then I'm in.
This game is pretty much the oddball of the series, design wise at least. Relatively short, with focus on some weird elements that don't really belong in the franchise, most notably the scoring system. People who got into Rayman through Origins should prepare for something different. But hey, people who really like arcade-style games with heavy emphasis on high-scores and such will probably like it.

I miss the hell out of platformers like this. I'm kind of glad I never played it before because I can pretend it's a new release now.
Theres a reason why I don't totally believe that Rayman Origins is a great game despite what literally EVERYONE says, and it isn't just because Ubisoft makes it.. Its literally because so few Rayman games are any good, and this one is at least near the top of the ones that suck hard.

Hmm..I can see why some of you guys don't like it. Rayman 1 & 2 are in leagues of their own, but 3 is still great! It's definitely a solid entry in the series, but the issues you guys bring up totally make sense.
The dialog is definitely obnoxious and a bit hard to swallow, but I think that was intentional. It's a self-parody and that's what makes it fun to play through, besides just being fun in itself. It is a very love or hate it kind of thing.

Ancel didn't have anything to do with Rayman 3. He was working on that shitty King Kong game at the time.
BUT, Rayman 3 is a great game, and I'm buying it now.

I played the demo and that's all I really want to play of the game. It just bored me until the end, so I definitely don't want to purchase it.
I think ubisoft is lame as fuck. Assassin creed blows. BG&E is overrated. But when i found Rayman Origins for $15 i said lets see if it lives up to the hype. That game is fuckin boss. Best platformer since super meat boy.
