I liked Kameo, I guess, but I do agree - Rare are a shell of their former selves. Sadly, it seems to be happening with all the "great" developers we had. They're either disbanding or they're losing what made them great.
Truly a fall from grace. Some of the best platformers EVER MADE were in the hands of Rare when they still had free reign and decided to develop for Nintendo primarily. I can express without engaging in hyperbole that it was Microsoft's acquisition alone that killed them. Someone (Retro maybe?) needs to get the rights to Banjo Kazooie out of there fast before it all goes to Hell.

Poor Rare. You were doomed once Nintendo sold you out of their second party stable. At least we'll always have the back catalog. Plenty of good games from the N64 and SNES(if you don't mind collectathons), and some great things from the NES.
Speaking of which, its always puzzled me why Microsoft hasn't had them update RC-Pro AM for X-Box Live. I would be all over that and I'm not the only one.

While this completely sucks, it doesn't surprise all that much. Rare has been on the decline for sometime. When Perfect Dark Zero came out, I knew it was the beginning of the end. It just wasn't good when compared to Rare's prior work. See: GoldenEye 007, Donkey Kong, Conker, Jet Force Gemini. ... Speaking of, where the hell is my Jet Force Gemini HD re-release? Or my fucking sequel, for that matter?!

We may not like the latest batch of rare games but there may be a new generation of gamers in the next few years who fondly look back on recent rare efforts.
It's like childrens tv sucks today because it isn't what we watched. I'm sure the generation before us thought our programmes sucked aswell.....see what I'm saying?

Because Rare isn't structurally intact.
Rare is basically like Infinity Ward, there are a few people left but its a shell of its former self. If VALVe buys what's left of Infinity Ward and they put out less than stellar product, how is that VALVe's fault?

@Patriot Snake- For me there would. As previously stated, Rare used to create amazing games especially platformers. I am highly disappointed that they not only abandoned a high portion of that aspect but the notion of quality too. I don't care if it was still with Nintendo. I think all three develpers are on equal ground in terms of niching an industry. These 3rd party developers though have more weight on them, and THAT is why I'm so ashamed of Rare.

Rare was my favorite company in the N64 days. I was sad to see them leave the Nintendo fold mostly because I had no intention of going Xbox. I was just jealous of Xbox owners at the time. I have a 360 now and Nuts and Bolts is the only game that they have made that interests me. We like to think that game companies make games for the fans ( and some do) but it mostly boils down to business. Rare is not and will never be the company it was in the 90s.
