Whether it be metallic foil highlights on game packing or top-notch game pack-ins, you always excelled at the little details, and we loved you for that. Some of us still love you -- some even enough to pay $787 for your rarest promotional items.

That's right. Someone shelled out almost $800 in an ebay auction for what's known as an Elemental Gearbolt Assasin's Case, which was a promotional item given to press members at an event during the 1998 E3 (damn, I wasn't press then!). This promotional set for the PlayStation game Elemental Gearbolt includes a branded aluminum embossed case, a gold-painted Guncon light gun, the Elemental Gearbolt game, and red memory card. There is said to be only 50 of these sets in existence.

I would give my opinion, but it looks like the auctioner has me covered:

"For the price of a common PS3, you could have a shot at owning one of gaming's most sought after jewels."
