Speculation has been running rampant about a high profile Xbox 360 game being thrown on the scrapheap. Speculation, however, isn't fact, and the theories that Rare's new Banjo-Kazooie was the cancelled game have been denied outright by a source inside the company.
Thanks to less than encouraging sales of Rare's other kid-friendly 360 offerings -- namely Kameo and Viva Pinata -- it was suggested that the UK developer had decided not to bother with another installment of the well known platform franchise. Rare has stated that this is "definitely not" the case.
So, nothing to see here, gentlemen. If you still believe the rumor about a highly anticipated Microsoft game getting the axe, you better look elsewhere, because the bear and bird are still alive and kicking.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
All we need now is Killer Instinct 3.
This post is pretty pointless. Blame the fact that it's the slowest work day ever.
my bet goes to the Peter Jackson Halo project
I'm starting to think the Halo movie takes more than a few traits from John-117. No matter what they do to it, it won't f#%$ing die.
I really would miss the bear-and-bird. All the animal antics I get these days come from Sam and Max, and I'm starting to think that rabbit-thing is perverting my mind.
i made a list of possible games.
Banjo-Kazooie 3 - X360
Combat Flight Simulator 4 - pc
Fable 2 - X360
Halo Wars - X360
Marvel Universe Online - pc/X360
now witch banjo safe.. the only game that it can be is halo wars and fable 2.
fyi, you should read my blog for a help full comment on this :O
It misses the christmas market, silly, this may have been an good alternative title to Ratchet and Clank on the PS3. Missed a move there.
Banjo-Kazooie games were not without their evolutions on the platformer pattern. Consider the times that you have to split Banjo and Kazooie in Tooie in order to solve a puzzle - certainly those situations stand out, even now. And the note collecting was not difficult. Surely there were situations when you would die and be missing like five notes to open the next door, but that happened rarely. The notes were spread out throughout the level, and if you played the level you easily collected enough of them.
Also, DK64 was awesome!
Hell, I'm going to go play Banjo Tooie right now!
