Bethesda and id Software have announced the "Anarchy Edition" for its upcoming first-person shooter Rage. This special version of the game will be available to anyone who pre-orders the game, for the same price as the standard edition.

"Anarchy Edition" owners will get, as expected, some special treats not available in the regular edition, including:

  • A one-handed double barrel shotgun"
  • "Fists of RAGE," for use in tight quarters melee combat
  • The "Rat Rod Buggy" which will replace your standard in-game buggy
  • The Crimson Elite armor

The significance of the armor is a bit difficult to explain. Apparently, when you first start the game, you're given the opportunity to choose from one of three suits, each suit has its own unique attributes. With the Crimson Elite armor, you'll receive the attributes of each suit, and you'll be the most fashionable human in the wasteland.

"Anarchy Edition" will be available for all platforms where Rage is available, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

We can't see the new Doom yet, but it sounds like a return to form

Bethesda said its big reveal of Doom -- that is in fact "Doom," not "Doom 4" -- at QuakeCon would be for attendees only, not for us Internet ne'er-do-wells, but I still watched the QuakeCon stream like a sucker, anyway. When ...more
