RadioShack to stock Xbox 360s and Halo 3 photo

The dim, pitiful, uninviting cave of switches, batteries, wires and various pegboarded electronic goods known as RadioShack may soon stock Xbox 360s alongside their humdrum wares.

The Seattle Times reports that two analysts, Evan Wilson from with Pacific Crest Securities, and Arvind Bhatia from Sterne Agee & Leach, said Friday that RadioShack would stock Microsoft's console and copies of Halo 3 in some stores.

This news sparked a 7.3 percent stock increase for RadioShack, as investors are probably hoping for a boost to holiday sales from this deal. Rick Weinhart, an analyst with BMO Capital Markets, said that "We think this enthusiasm is a mistake." Ouch.

No offense to RadioShack patrons or employees, but a visit to one of their stores to acquire a game console or title would probably fall into "last resort" territory.

Feel free to 'shop or subtitle the attached picture to communicate your feelings on this matter.

[thanks, JV]

The real interesting bit is that the XBOX360 will be branded by Monster® cable. It will merely be the Halo 3 Cable for your tv.

RadioShack also sells depressing boredom and broken dreams.

RadioShack is where you go to buy obscure audio/video connectors or shitty electronic toys for when you need a cheap birthday present for that cousin who hate.

I remember getting a radio shack electric science kit one christmas, it had pieces that you connected by wires to a box with double A batteries. I tried putting the wires in an outlet, gave my parents a heart attack.

At least a 360 doesn't use 10 D batteries, unlike most of the stuff you can buy at Radioshack

I use to work for Radio Shack a few years ago and I remember we didn't sell any video games or consoles, just PC games.
Radio Shack had bought early stock from Nintendo when the Nintendo 64 came out and then Nintendo decided to drop the price on them before selling it to the other stores.
Radio Shack was left with tons of systems they were forced to sell at the same price at the other stores, but they were losing tons of money on them.
After that Radio Shack stopped selling video games and systems for a while. They just started to sell Sony systems a year after I left.

Since when has Radio Shack been a dim, pitiful, uninviting cave of anything other than mobile phones? I remember days long ago when they didn't whore mobile phones when I walked through the door, but those days are long gone.

The closes Gamestop or EB Games to my campus is 1.5 miles away which for me isn't far, but the Radioshack is like half a mile so I would probably go there if I didn't already have the legendary at my Gamestop where I used to live.

I went into radio shack the other day to try and find a console switch and the girl there had no idea what I was talking about. She ended up directing me to a drawer filled with toggle switches. It's nice to see that they are trying to be relevant again.

@chris

Have you had any luck? I'm looking for an uber-switch that does VGA/Component/DVI/Audio/USB. Right now I'm using a KVM that does VGA, audio, and USB and I'm doing the rest by manually yanking cables.

I've got the PS3/Wii/360/PC hooked up to the same flatscreen and speakers.
