Radar Group revealed, Prey 2 and two new IPs officially announced photo

A new IP management and production company, Radar Group, has announced its public launch today. Working on what they've trademarked as "Original Thinking," the focus is on working with development teams who wish to establish and cultivate original IP. The first three games projects have been announced as Earth No More, Incarnate, and Prey 2

Radar Group is headed by a number of industry veterans, including Chief Creative Officer Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Software, co-founder of both 3D Realms and Gathering of Developers.

"We're something our industry desperately needs," says Miller. "Radar is teaming up with many of the industry's top independent studios to help them create original IP in which they own a substantial ownership stake. Why is this important? Because in today's industry it's nearly impossible, unless you're Epic of Valve, to create original games and not give away full IP ownership to the publisher. Radar believes that creators should share ownership, and all of the long-term benefits that come from that."

Hopefully one of those benefits will be great, uncompromised original titles. Hit the jump for details on Earth No More, Incarnate, and Prey 2.

Earth No More
Earth No More does away with the “lone-hero” shooter archetype, instead focusing on the dynamic between an ensemble cast that must learn to work together to survive the threat of an environmental extinction event. As Will Foster, a DHS chemical weapons specialist, you are among the first to respond to a gas attack on Washington, D.C. However, it soon becomes clear that the gas attack is a cover-up for something much more sinister. Earth No More is currently being developed in close collaboration with Recoil Games and is slated for release on next-gen consoles and PC.

Incarnate
Incarnate poses the question: Can evil ever die? The re-incarnated souls of history’s most evil people are converging on present-day Chicago. As Thomas Ludlow, you are recruited by a secret organization to hunt down and capture these ‘Incarnates’. But the further you dig into the reasons for their arrival, the more you learn of the true nature of your efforts and your own connection to the events unfolding before you. Stalk your prey in the wide open city, search for them in the dark places, and maybe you will survive long enough to solve the mystery of your own past. Can you break the chains of destiny, or will you let them bind you to your doom? Incarnate is currently being developed in collaboration with a yet-to-be-announced studio.

Prey 2
The follow up to “Action Game of the Year” (PC Gamer), reprise your role as Tommy, the native warrior who saved Earth from alien invasion in Prey. This time, abandoned and framed for the disappearance of his family and girlfriend, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him. Building on the mind-bending portal and gravity-defying gameplay of the original with several innovative new twists, Prey 2 promises to once again take players into a compelling science-fiction world with breathtaking visuals and adrenaline-pumping action gameplay. Prey 2 is currently being developed in cooperation with Human Head studios and slated for Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

I got the first prey yesterday and am finding it really enjoyable. It's got some good ideas and can make you jump. It's also really cheap now, pick it up.

No, really? THIS is the story? Meh. I liked the first one too.

3D realms should focus on Duke Nukem Forever instead.

I'm glad to hear this news, as strangely a lot of gamers missed Prey in 360s packed games schedule. Its worth picking up and I'm glad they are doing a sequel.

Earth No More and Incarnate sound really intriguing, I'll be watching both with great interest.

I liked the first Prey at least as FPSs go. I hope they do more puzzles though like when you were running around those gigantic asteroids/mini-planets. They had ONE puzzle with the gravity stuff in the cube the first time around, and somehow it was raved about as a puzzle game. Bring me more puzzles!

Prey set the stage for Valve to make a game like Portal. I only hope with Prey 2 they push environments further not just improve on portal's concept.

There's an article in the latest Edge about Radar group. One of their main aims is to cultivate IP's which can be sold to Hollywood apparently.

If you're going to toot your own horn about cultivating "original IPs" maybe one of your first games shouldn't have a "2" in the title. To me, Prey 2 is just another cash-in. The original game was okay, at best, and certainly didn't seem to warrant a sequel in my opinion. There's no "Original Thinking" needed to cultivate a title like Prey 2; plenty of companies would do it. I am glad to hear about a company like this coming to fruition, I just hope they actually support original titles.

The Earth No More sounds pretty cool and the concept art looks fantastic.

I guess I like generic shooters, so as long as its fun either in multiplayer or has a decent single player storyline I'll pick em up.

I'll just put this out there, because it seems obvious from the description... but I'm thinking with Incarnate... you play as Hitler...

This is a great but are they going to do other genres besides FPS?
Although I think games sound like they have an interesting story.
I seems like they're stuck on doing FPS's.

I think the concept for Incarnate sounds awesomely bad in a possibly good way.

The ending of Prey made it obvious they at least wanted to try to make a sequel. To me it was meh, maybe but very unlikely the sequel will be better.
