should i buy a 3DS XL on augusut or wait for november for the thanks giving sale or something??
i just hope this will be the last revision for at least 2 years.
A nice design would solve my absolute disgust of both US colors.
Also here are other improvements this article doesnt include
Perfect BC. DS games look better than ever
Better battery
Better matte finish for no smudging
I have a 3ds and i want this very badly
But I don't need it. Since the 3ds is account based and I am unwilling to abandon my current 3ds, there is just no point in having a second US 3ds... I would essentially have 2 different accounts and setups.
Oh well. ^.^;;
every platform is account based.
as a matter of fact people have been saying for stretched ds titles it looks better than before and same with 3ds games
there are plenty of videos showing just that
You can system transfer between two 3DS units to keep all of your digital purchases, ambassador games, friend code, etc.
It basically just takes everything from your current 3DS and puts it into a new shell, with the new 3DS's info/FC going into the old 3DS shell.
Additionally, Nintendo has mentioned the upcoming Nintendo Network will be cross-platform with 3DS and WiiU, so chances are when they launch it in November you will be able to link your 3DS eShop account to your Nintendo Network profile and just re-download content like you do on PSN and XBLA.
Wait a tick.. I've been hearing the opposite.
Now me-sa worried.
"They" won't do it for you unless you call "them" and hassle "them."
Otherwise you need to have both units and a wi-fi internet connection to do the system transfer, so if you are hoping to sell the original 3DS to put it towards the XL payment, you have to sell it AFTER transferring to the XL.
There is a rumor that some GameStops will let you do this in-store come August, but what GameStop doesn't realize is you need a wi-fi connection to do this, which 75% of them don't have.
Were you talking about the DS lite for the right-side stylus location? My fat DS's stylus is in the back like the 3DS, though maybe that was just for the red Mario Kart version.
I will play through Master Quest on this beauty O.O !

That's a relief. Would you be so kind as to post a link to a good resolution comparison? I know I could just take the time to find a good one myself, but I'll circumvent the time spent by asking you for a link if you've seen a good one.

towards the middle of the second link
it looks the same to me........
First is the unused screen space for DS games. You kinda have to figure this in as a set back brought on by having a game that isnt' native to the system being played on that system. Its hardly even a set back at all when we should be thankful they didn't cut out backwards compatibility all together.
Second is "Like the marginal improvements to the other buttons, the changes here are nothing to write home about, but the feel is noticeably better." pertaining to the 3 buttons on the bottom of the touch screen. This is a rather good change. That "soft pad" design was terrible and often led to players feeling they had pressed the buttons to have nothing happen. Subsequently, my roommates 3DS came with the film layer of the buttons (the layer that says Select/Home/Start) loose from their system, which a small but noticeable gap between the molding and the underside (you can press on it and the flim basically "talks" to you). These buttons do away with that flawed design and any possible manufacturing errors that it brings.
Moving the stylus was probably the best move of all, cause grabbing it from a traditional 3DS is a pain in the ass.
@Stealth
I know saying this to you isn't going to matter a damn, but that better battery isn't much better, only clocking in at an hour, hour and a half more battery life. The extra time is probably, simply, because they could get a slightly larger battery in there, and nothing else. Its not that major.
Plus, I doubt Abel had enough time with the system to really display its battery life to him at all -this is a hands on preview write up, not a "I've got one sitting here in my lap, everyone start drooling and cursing me"
I can't contest you about the finish though, as much as I love my Zelda 3DS, I hate having to wipe it down so often. Won't get rid of it to get one of these, but I kind of wish they took the chance to bail on the gloss finish with the Christmas batch of 3DS', instead of these.
@Ronin
Stealth is right. If you have one currently, theres no immediate rush to upgrade really.. But frankly, if you do, there's no reason not to, cause you can just transfer your data and accounts over (you can do this up to 5 times).
Pretty much everythings account based in this industry (and world wide) you can't really run from it any more. Luckily Nintendo makes it pretty painless to transfer stuff (I don't like the 5 time limit too much, but the idea is really "why would you REALLY need to ever buy 5 3DS and transfer your data?". If you look at it like that, the logic is pretty sound)
That ubiquitous annoyance aside, a fine writeup.
It is in fact 90 percent larger according to the official specs. Near double the size my friend.
