QuakeCon attendees, rejoice: one of the swankest-lookin' games in recent memory will be playable at the upcoming conference. Valve and Turtle Rock Studios have announced that Left 4 Dead, the upcoming zombie survival co-op shooter, will be playable at this year's QuakeCon in Dallas, August 2-5. You lucky jerkfaces in attendance will also have the opportunity to ask members of the design team questions about the game, like "what's your favorite zombie film?", and "when you walk, does a path of flowers and sunshine spring up in your wake?"
Yeah, I'm a fan. And if I wasn't up to my neck in obligations to my post (got me a review of Bratz Ponyz coming up), I'd hop the nearest freight train and battle a pack of wandering hobos to get to Dallas just to get a crack at it. I guess I'll just have to wait -- le sigh.
But for those of you gettin' your rocketjumps on at this year's QuakeCon, be sure to hit the booth, get some impressions, and fill out them community blogs. If I can't live the dream, at least I can live vicariously through you.
[Thanks, Doug!]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I don't know that I'd go to Quakecon just to play it though.
1) ITS FREE! The only thing you have to do is register a spot for byoc (if you want to take part in the lan event) and pay for your hotel / food.
2) id Software usually does special showcases for their games they are working on.
3) Intel/AMD lots of other companys showcase games there.
I am going next year thats for sure.
I know I ask for alot. But.
I think that I should get one million dollarz and a hat made of money, visa vi, a money hat. P.S. I really want Left 4 Dead to not sux.
-The end
Scott.
To me it would get incredibly boring no matter how many and how fast, eventually it tires.
Sven Co-Op had it best, create new monsters for each level and make them harder and harder, not just a clump of the same mobs over and over.
MMO anyone?
However, at 30...it is getting harder and harder for me to rationalize attending a 'videogame' conference to my wife. Especially since it means sticking her w/our 4 month old son and 4 year old daughter. (Have fun Judy...i know i will.)
But i would like to know if any other dtoiders are gonna be attending. Perhaps a stroll down to my local dtoid forum watering hole will quench my thirst.
I'm there. You know, months ago with I signed up, I could for real reason to pursue a press pass. Now I do.
DIBS!
Wouldn't it be awesome if they could put a sticker on the box thats a picture of George Romero with two thumbs up "Im George Romero and i approve this game!). LOL
