QuakeCon 2009 dates announced photo

For all you PC gamers who love LAN parties, the biggest one of them all is set for summer of next year. idSoftware has announced that QuakeCon 2009 will be taking place in Dallas from August 13th to August 16th at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

id is going to be using QuakeCon to show off and market their upcoming free-to-play browser FPS Quake Live, but there will be plenty of other exhibitors and games available if shooters aren't your cup of tea.

As always, QuakeCon is completely free - you only have to pay to get yourself there and to book a hotel. Online registration for the event itself won't begin until March 6th, but the Hilton Anatole is already accepting reservations.

Any Dtoiders planning on attending?

I honestly have no idea what the hell is taking them so long to get Quake Live up and running, when I've been able to play something like Legions in a browser for quite a while now. I never liked Q3 much anyway though, UT99 plz ;P.

me and my friends are defiantly going, this will be year 4. It's nice something like this is down in the southern parts of the US instead on the west coast. Living in Oklahoma makes it hard to get to PAX and other game related events.

Wedge: What's taking time is all the infrastructure needed to support the game. It has all kinds of stats and ladders and match-making things that they have to get right, not to mention the ads and whatnot.

Heck yeah. This will be my 4th year in a row. This year it's the weekend before class at Oklahoma State starts back up after summer break though, so I guess I'll just be hung over and tired for the first few days of class, lol.

@Tiff I know those people too! I went to college with them. I was shocked when I was scrolling down the page.

@Paul Soth - I though I might have been the only one that caught that. Maybe not the best timing eh?

Should be interesting to see/judge the response from a community of experts re: Quake Live
