Q-Games president promises 'two or three' new PixelJunk titles in 2009 photo

Don't throw things, but I PixelJunk Eden on the PlayStation Network was one of my favorite downloadable titles of 2008. Yes, I enjoyed it more than Braid and World of Goo -- sorry, Internet!

So when Dylan Cuthbert, the President of PixelJunk's developer Q-Games promises two to three new games from the company in 2009, I get excited. Cuthbert offers no details, making this one of the first teases of the New Year, and a nasty one at that. But considering the PixelJunk games have gotten consistently more interesting and larger in scope -- starting with the straight-forward slot-car PixelJunk Racers to the stunning Eden -- this bodes well.

I wish I knew what was up their sleeves for 2009, but I'm not even going to try to guess. Instead, I'm just going to wait patiently. While you're waiting, check out our review of PixelJunk Eden and my interview with Cuthbert from last year.

OK, you know what -- I'm done waiting. Is this new stuff out already, or what?

i like their games, i don't love them but they make games for serious gamers with pj monsters and eden, the racers one i didn't like. but i do want to get whatever they give us next.

in a psn video interview, Dylan showed a couple of stills of canned ideas and in one of those 6 or so pictures was a still of a game they are working on, he wouldn't say which picture it was though.
they all have the same kind of art style behind them with eden being the standout.

Hey, I just got back from overseas, never once hooked up a line to this ps3, can anyone give me like a top 5 download list? It's been pissing me of that I'm missing out on these games, and now I cant seem to remember what I've missed.

jiffy,

i'd say Pixel Junk Eden, WipeOut HD, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Pixel Junk Monsters, and Super Stardust HD.

Although there are others, just got Suikoden for ps1 <3, and there is also Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty, and probably some others. But I think these are the some of the best you can get right now.

Mega Man 9, Riff: Everyday Shooter and the aforementioned Wipeout HD are all worth looking at.

Jiffy, stay away from pain.

I semi-like pixel junk eden, missing jumps that takes you back to start of the level is just too frustrating for my careless personality.

I love pixel junk monsters, however. That thing is way too addictive, and really enjoyable with a friend where you get to discuss how to tackle the next set of monsters.

MM9, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, SSF2HDR, Super Stardust HD, Pixeljunk Eden. I like Pixeljunk monsters, but I've also played it about 20 other times in the form of internet flash games, Starcraft/Warcraft3 mods, etc.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed was my favourite DLC game last year. Then again I loved them all.

PixelJunk Monsters is particularly fun when playing cooperatively with a friend and/or significant other. I don't know any free games that offer that same kind of experience. So if that's a consideration, definitely a recommendation there.

PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden, Everyday Shooter, MegaMan 9, Wipeout HD, Lumines (if you haven't played the PSP or 360 versions), The Last Guy...

there's gotta be some others I'm missing...

Oh, and even though most people dismiss it as mindless crap, Pain is actually quite good and requires a lot of strategy and planning in order to succeed at the harder goals. All you need is the initial game and the Abusement Park expansion. The Movie Studio and extra characters are all stupid and unecessary.

@Jiffylube- I'd buy all the games that have been mentioned thus far, you can't go wrong.

Eden and Monsters are awesome local co-op games. I didn't really care for PJ Racers.

Eden can get pretty tricky with 3 people playing but really entertaining. Everyone has to be on the same page or it can get pretty ugly...

I'll get excited when they release a game on a system I actually own. That said, a shoot-out to BC:Rearmed, World of Goo, MM9, Braid, Castle Crashers!

I just spent way too much money....

Pixel Junk Eden is amazing. It's been awhile since I had so much fun losing at a videogame.
