At GDC this year, Dale North, Nick Chester and I giggled like school girls when we were shown a super secret and surprisingly intergalactic sequel to the addictive Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

Honestly, this first trailer for Puzzle Quest: Galactrix doesn’t reveal much at all. It shows enough, though, to give you a quick taste of the all new gravity mechanic. As you play each stage, the traditional colored tiles will actually fall in different directions depending on where your “puzzle ship” is in space. It is a tricky (but cool) feature and is sure to add an enormous amount of challenge to an already stressful game.

It is also nice to see that the ridiculously overdramatic music is making a grand return. I always loved that about the original Puzzle Quest.

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is set to hit the Nintendo DS, XBLA, and PC in early 2009 (sorry PSP owners), but we are sure to see more of the game at next week’s E3.

[Thanks TrailerParkJesus!]

Oh I can't wait. Not to knock on the first Puzzle Quest or anything; But if the sequal turned out anything similar to the first game I would have skipped it. I'm glad that they are doing a different setting and changed up the puzzle mechanic with a few simple (yet totally inovative) tweaks.
Thus ensuring that I will be throwing my money at this title when it drops
DS FTW

I don't really know how I feel about it. The ever-changing gravity seems like it would make it difficult-to-impossible to set up combos and such.

I actually never liked Puzzle Quest. Though the space setting sounds more interesting, I wonder if they changed enough to not make it based on luck so much.

I'll be purchasing this for both the DS and XBLA.

Here's a question no one has answered:

Will the DS version have the ability to play others online? I like being able to play the original PQ between to local DSs, but I'd really enjoy taking this online against others.

Zomg I was in a research study for this! Game already looks better than the bile I played. I loved the original on DS (didnt catch my eye at first on XBLA) so this is probably a must buy.
