Puzzle Quest coming to XBL; Wizard casts Mordenkainen's Superfluous Sudoku photo

Puzzle Quest, the game that has earned raved reviews for combining the sex appeal of thought puzzles with the hyper-masculinity of Tokienesque RPG questing, is coming to Xbox Live! Those of you who have played the game already are probably collapsed on the ground, drooling on yourself with glee, but for those who have yet to experience the almost-sexual satisfaction of Puzzle Quest, I have one word for you: No I don't! I lied!

Back to whatever point I had, according to the press release we received earlier (the same one you can find after the jump), Puzzle Quest, Rocketbowl (the touching story of a bowl and his rocket), and Mad Tracks (the harrowing tale of the death of Dale Earnhardt) will all be released on XBL, after receiving the full high-def treatment, later this year.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Premier publisher of interactive entertainment software, D3Publisher of America, Inc. (D3PA), will begin to bring titles to gamers through Xbox LIVE® Arcade later this year. Xbox LIVE Arcade on the Xbox 360 is the premier destination for digitally distributed, high definition original and classic games. The first three titles Xbox 360 owners can expect to see from D3PA on the service are Mad Tracks, a racing game that takes its inspiration from the pull-back-and-go toy cars of gamers youth, RocketBowl, Xbox LIVE Arcades first bowling game, which brings the fun of miniature golf to the bowling alley, and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, a downloadable version of the Nintendo DS and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system game which blends match-three puzzle gameplay with strategy, character-building elements and a persistent storyline set in the beloved Warlords universe.

What ties all of D3PAs titles together are not genre or size of game or developer, but an unsurpassable element of fun, said Yoji Takenaka, executive vice president and chief operating officer, D3PA. We look forward to capitalizing on Xbox LIVE Arcades wide reach and ease of use to bring gamers unique titles that fit the bill of delivering the highest enjoyment factors.

Mad Tracks, RocketBowl and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords are only the first of many games that D3PA plans to make available on Xbox LIVE Arcade, reinforcing the companys commitment to fostering strong relationships with developers of all sizes and helping them deliver their creations into the hands of the public. All three games also support the publishers primary aim to bring top-quality game experiences to the widest range of audiences possible; each will be quick to download, easy to pick up, but challenging to master thereby providing hours of gameplay.

Mad Tracks was developed by Load, Inc., Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords was developed by Infinite Interactive Pty. Ltd., and RocketBowl, an original Large Animal game, is being developed for Xbox LIVE Arcade by 21-6.

If this game wasn't so awesome despite the DS graphics, I'd be pissed at you for not finding out and telling us about this before I picked up my copy. Because the PC demo is how that game deserves to look.

Incidentally, I just cast Lvl. 3 Eroticism, Nex. You turn into a real beautiful woman.

I steal yo soul and cast Lightning Lvl. 1,000,000. All the DS copies blow up because they are only Lvl. 2 druids.

Man, the more I think about this, the more I realize that I am going to buy this on XBLA, even though I have a DS copy. Even if it doesn't have XBL battles, the game just felt so much more whole on the PC version, and I imagine that it would work much the same on the 360. The only thing I can say against an Xbox iteration of this is the lack of mouse or stylus makes choosing gems 100% more of a bitch.

I'm also buying this game a second time.

This is the first time in a very very long time I've played a game that I _know_ i will start playing again from the beginning immediately after I finish it.

True classic.

message detail I wrote up a petition to order Microsoft to lower the price. In short, I (and from what I understand the Xbox Community in general) feel that the 120gb Hard Drive is overpriced. Considering that the larger drive will be used for downloadable content Microsoft already makes a ton of money selling/renting, I believe that even if they sell the 120gb hard drive at a loss, they would still be making money on it. But I'm not asking for the drive to be $80 or somthing like that, just that it's reasonable. I'm sure my fellow 360 owners agree that $180 is absolutely too much for a 120gb hard drive, but for $120 (even though some would still consider it overpriced) is much easier to swallow. If you agree with me, please click the link to my petition and give it a read, and if you still agree, sign it. Thanks.

Does anybody else think that this game is insanely overrated? I mean, you're addicted to it, yes... but don't you get that you're just addicted to Bejeweled? Aside from doing a good job at copying Bejeweled gameplay, the game has nothing: The quality of art and sound is shameful and obviously purely hacked and the "rpg elements" are laughable. Come on folks, realize that you love this game because Bejeweled is a really addictive puzzle game type. Maybe you’re just happy that somebody made playing Bejeweled acceptable for “hardcore gamers”? For anybody who has actually played Bejeweled, this game is an ugly, crappy, unsatisfying clone.

-> MrFrunkus: The sad fact is that internet petitions just don't work. At all. Ever. Microsoft will continue to charge whatever they want, and lower the price whenever the hell they see fit. $180 is a stupid price for 120g, so I won't buy it. But microsoft are actually still making a loss on every 360 sold, not to mention the several billion they're still in the red for in trying to establish a foothold in console gaming. Also, most inappropriate quoting of mark twain ever. Like clicking on a couple of links really costs anything? Especially seeing as this about consumerism, NOT democracy.

-> Nex: Hyper-masculinity = pld.

Brad Drac, that is one of the most intelligent rebuttals I've had. Though I disagree, (the Bioshock petition seemed to work). I respect your opinion.

Thank god I read this. I played it on the PC and loved the demo. I played the demo way too much. I really suck at the game, but thats what xbox live is for. Proving I suck at puzzle games. Except tetris. I'll take anyone in tetris.

It's a crying shame that the PC version was just a demo, and there's no plans to do a release for PC, because it was ten different kinds of awesome. Same gameplay, with ridiculously better graphics and sound.

@BahamutZero: Meh. Stun is my bread and butter in that game.

Also, Lvl. 8 Cock of the Infinite.

@ MrFrunkus:

Dude, the Bioshock petition was 100% spin. They were going to do a collector's edition anyway, and when the petition popped up they went along to make the fans feel like they made a difference. Those guys are more likely to buy the collector's edition now, and 2K Games gets some good press for caring about the fans. Opportunistic marketing, that's all it is.
