Puzzle Quest 2 revealed for Xbox LIVE Arcade, DS photo

Following the tease of its reveal in the upcoming GamePro (as part of its "Top Upcoming Sequels of 2010" story), D3 Publisher has revealed that Puzzle Quest 2 is slated for a spring 2010 release. So far the only platforms announced are Xbox LIVE Arcade and Nintendo DS, but there's little doubt it will make its way everywhere else in due time.

The game returns to the match-three mechanic that made the first game so popular, along with its fantasy backstory. Puzzle Quest 2 will let players choose from four classes -- War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, and Assassin. No surprises, the game features a story mode, instant action mode, multiplayer modes, and a "tournament mode."

As a huge fan of the first game, it's nice to see them returning to the "roots" -- wasn't a huge fan of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, despite its potential. Here's hoping they bring back the awesome music... or at least a remix.

Hmm. I have the iPhone version with claims to have a third chapter in the making. I wonder if this is going to interfere with that, or what?

Thank god, it's back to a normal fantasy setting. It is just a lot easier to craft a good story for a normal fantasy setting, as supposed to the complicated science fiction galaxies.

I miss hexagon:(

This game is going to (joyfully) waste sooooo much of my time, and I can't wait.

first game was ass. the classes were horribly unbalanced, and relies too much on luck.

I want a psp version, the ds version of the first was okay but the psp played like the console version in a handheld

As much as I would fear to actually look at the number, I want this game to have a "time played" figure somewhere. I was always curious as to how much time I sank into Puzzle Quest, at least until a friend's cousin erased my save when I lent out the game to said friend.

On a side note I never went back to the game after that, even though I haven't beaten it. The pain was just too great.

Especially with the timer I couldn't imagine Puzzle Quest on the PSP or console playing nearly as fluid as it could on PC or DS. Gyromancer would be fine, but having not played it on PSP myself, my outside impression would be that it something would end up being lost without a cursor, or at least more imprecise in a rush to the piece one needed to move.

I want this fucking game. I guess I'll hold off on Gyromancer, the puzzle action itself doesn't look as fun.

Aww no PC version yet. I loved having the original game on my crappy laptop.
