I felt bad for all the DS games at E3 2010, especially Okamiden. How could any DS title possibly follow the unveiling of the 3DS? It just wasn't fair.

I hope that Okami fans (all 200,000 or so of you) are still willing to buy Okamiden, despite its release on "old" hardware. Capcom really deserves to be rewarded for crafting such a fresh-yet-loyal semi-sequel. I still think that Chibiterasu is one of the most ingenious redesigns that a videogame character has ever received. Beyond that, everything about this game looks like pure Okami. That deserves some kudos, and some cash.

I also heard that Capcom's planning to add some anti-piracy code to the game that gives any DS that plays it off of an R4 diarrhea for the rest of its natural life. Yep, pirate Okamiden, and your DS is going to poop all over you.

Kudos for that too.

Yeah, until the mod and pirate scene cracks their new protection and everybody just steals it.

Almost anything can be cracked.

i always thought that okami was much more suited to the ds. it's just too bad that i'm going to be spending all of my extra cash on the 3ds and a couple of launch titles. i really hope that this game doesn't suffer the same fate as the original.

Unfortunately, Capcom is making the gigantic mistake of waiting until 2011 to release this in the West. It's sadly ironic considering that Okami came out on the PS2 long after the 360, PS3 and Wii were either released or announced ...

Okami was a game I felt was over rated. Repeat boss battles, massively long cutscenes. I hope Capcom learns from the first and improves this game.

Step one to ruining any video game ever:
Add J-Pop

(Excepting Bayonetta for some reason. I don't know what voodoo they pulled to make the game worth playing despite the J-Pop.)

D'AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW OMG YOU GUYS DID YOU SEE THE PART WHERE HE WAS STANDING ON HIS HIND LEGS OMFG SO CUTE SQUEEEEEEEEEEE...sorry. It's obligatory.

@ GohanGVO - Serious? The 3DS will definitely be out either by or around that time. Hey Capcom: when this doesn't sell, pleeeaaaseeee don't blame it on the franchise?

And that's all Capcom needs. Pirates aren't typically patient types. Two months without people downloading the ROM (and those who do borking their DS) means two months of sales.
It would take a real douche to pirate an Okami game regardless. Of course, pirates are the same type who download indie games like Machinarium and packages where you can pay anything (Humble Indie Bundle) without any DRM and still somehow bitch that they're actually crusaders of justice or somesuch.

@Electrium

The game comes out in Japan on September 30th, but it's not coming out elsewhere until next year.

Yeah... I'll pick this up day one, and 3DS up when iteration two comes out and there are more titles for it.
The quirky games always tend to take some time to appear.

Totally psyched for this game.

@RIMoonlight So far it hasn't taken very long for any of the previous DS anti piracy attempts on games to be patched, I don't see this being any different.

I'll have to admit, that when they first announced Okamiden, I wasn't psyched. And by that, I mean I really didn't care at all. I thought it was some blatant way to make cash off of Okami fans. But the trailers... They were the things that proved the sequel's loyalty to the original. I caught some original music tracks in there, as well as one or two new just from watching a few trailers. Heck, I don't care that it's ut on DS. The faster I get to play it, the better!

See what your trailers do to me? Oh yeah, and has anyone heard yet about the box thing Capcom Japan was marketing with Okamiden's Japanese release? WANT. SO BAD. Capcom America would be making a giant mistake if they didn't sell that with the American release, because I'm positive I'd buy it if it was under 60 USD or somewhere around there. I only have so much money... Oh, who am I kidding, I'd buy it even if it was "599 US Dollars". I think my flashcard can run it from day one since they have a new anti-anti piracy system implemented

Well, that's it, now that Capcom's trying to fuck with people's flashcarts no one is going to buy it out of spite. A pity, because Okami is great.
